I have a locomotive that doesn't seem to have the braking power it should. I takes about three miles to come to a full stop. How do I correct this? Joe simerjoe@cox.net
Pick any engine which does stop the way you think it should and compare its ".eng" file to the offender's ".eng" file. Use NotePad or WordPad. Open them together on the screen and compare the brake parameter entries line-by-line, in both Wagon() and Engine() sections. The values won't be the same, but where they are not reasonably close, then you will probably have found your problem. If that doesn't help, post relevant sections of the data from your engine file here, and someone will point out the problem for you.

Joe Before you go hacking the eng file, one simple test try stopping with the engine brake if you are running the loco all by it's lonesome,I had a GP9 that I thought had a faulty brake parameter as it would go forever when I applied the train brake,as it turns out the individual who did the engine parameters set up the loco to run as the prototype. When I'd use the engine brake she'd stop just fine and when I coupled up some cars the train brake worked fine.Gary S
