Is there any way to get 24 bit colors work with alpha channels,
because textures with alpha channels look crappy.

Targa Files that save alpha channels within are 32 bit images. 24 Bits is the actual visual image while the remaining 8 bit is the stored greyscale layer or alpha channel.

Thanks for fast reply. Why does the texture look like it had only
8-16bits then?

because of the way MSTS compresses the textures with alpha channels to wedge them into the same memory space as those that don't. Your best bet is to add some noise to the image using a filter. This will break up the colors enough that they don't all get reduced to the same color when the sim loads them.

The approach I took with this F unit was in the modelling. All the "solid" polygons got their colour from an ace files without an alpha channel. The windows from one with the masking. It took some thought in the planning but the effects are reasonable. I know it is all red but it was the dust, rust and grime I wanted to look reasonable.:-}Dick C.

Dick,You actually use the same method I use on my models, I reserve the alpha channels for a seperate ace file which is usually 256x256 or smaller. This way I too know that everything is the shade I want.-=Andrew=-
