This is an update carried over from the ore car questions asked in the skinning thread. The only things left to add are the pusher pads and the air brake equipment, and then do both loaded and empty versions. Texturing will come right after that, and then I will debug and post. IOCC ore car constructed by Marine Industries Limited 1972-76.

RE: Ore Cars-Gondola Style

Update 2I am into detail work. A bit of a slog in TSM, and I am waiting for some photos of the cars from a former co-worker who is still on the property so I can get the details right, as my drawing for the MIL cars has dimensions only and I am doing a lot of this from memory, which at my age is fraught with risk! TSM screen dump update. I will be doing low-poly low detail versions for the guys that are in a hurry to have them.

RE: Ore Cars-Gondola Style

Something similar. The shot you put up is of a car identically constructed, but of 90-ton capacity, 26ft-2in inside length and 32ft-7.5in over the pulling faces of the couplers. this one 29-ft 2in inside length and 34ft-1in over the pulling faces, 100-ton capacity. Construction technique is identical, and in some cases the cars came from the same builders. These cars were built specifically to IOCC-QNS&L requirements by Marine Industries Limited. The design is fairly commonplace.

Nice!!! We have ore cars similar to that here in Western Australia on the Pilbara railways. Those will come nice and handy!! Keep them up.By the way, are those cars going to be independent or are they going to be in pairs - "primary and slave cars"?Keep up the great work!!!

RE: Ore Cars-Gondola Style

Welcome to the real world of heavy-haul ore trains. They will be single cars. QNS&L operates them in unit trains with coupler mechanism locking rings so that all rotary couplers face the same direction. At the present time the cars are operate all A-end or all B-end forward in a train. They are the same dimensions as most of the Pilbara region ore producer's rolling stock, so you will be able to adapt the basic project to suit your needs. The TSM projects files will be included in the upload, as the original model was not mine, it was Teeamu's. That will allow you do do groups with solid couplers if you so wish.

RE: Ore Cars-Gondola Style

The project is still on track, albeit very slow due to work commitments. Here is an update shot from within the game. I have to refine the skins, add the alphas where necessary, and produce an empty version. The WAG file work has been done and appears to work OK in the game. Please be patient with this old curmudgeon, as he tends to get buried in the details!
