My latest attempt at modelling:CN dash9 – image 1CN dash9 – image 2
I think the geometry of the nose isn't quite right yet. The photos I have suggest it is flatter than the scale drawing I am using.
Anyone have any good overhead shots or square on side shots? I guess I should fire up the sim and compare it to other safety cab models.I originally thought my scaling was off but it matches the NALW model closely. Justin's dash9 seems to be a little small.

Hey GrantI would be interested in doing a BC Rail repaint of your model when it gets farther along. It would be more accurate then my repaint NALW model. I'll see if I can dig up some photos, I think I have some lying around. We should talk - AndrewCN dash9 – image 5 CN dash9 – image 6

Looking cool, the only thing you gotta refine is the cab nose, its looking pretty EMD at the moment. Otherwise, good job

LAST EDITED ON Aug-26-03 AT 08:00 AM (EDT)

The first order had the exact same cabs as what EMD used... it's actually a standard CN design. Later orders had a modified version of GE's standard North American cab.The model looks dead on to me... nice job! Now, is somebody going to model the ex-GTW main between Chicago and Battle Creek so we have a place to run these?

Yup I agree, looks great. I didn't know it was a 4 window so it looked EMDish to me. I was wrong, good work.

RE: CN dash9

If TSM doesn't drive me insane, and I can get this one painted with my amateur skills, a 2 window version should be easy. I just realized all these four window beasts have that awful NA map scheme, another headache to deal with.

As soon as I work out some texture mapping I'll zip it up. Right now TSM has decided to shuffle some of my parts around a little. I just HAD to add that last detail....

RE: CN dash9

That is outstanding work guys!! Just need 2 more horn 'bells' on this model and we can then repaint it to BC Rail r,w,b colours.. As for the Dash8-40CM's, I don't think anyone has any plans to make them because MLT will supposedly release one in their Dundas route..? That's not to say that someone can't start doing one now though (it's about time they were made!) cdntrains

Making progess, still lots of little ( and some not so litttle ) details to fix. We are at 6000 polys, how does that compare with other models? I haven't noticed a performance hit, but I have a 3ghz machineCN dash9 – image 55CN dash9 – image 56

It should however be noted that I also have a GeForce 4/Ti4200 display adaptor.
