RE: SD40 Model Finished

Yep, still on the list of things to do! I'm planning on two dynamic brake versions - a high nose NS and a low nose (suggestions for railroad?). Worst part of making this was the darn handrails. I'm not 100% satisfied with them, but they look good so I'm not going to stress it right now.

RE: SD40 Model Finished

How about Conrail or CSX? Although the CSX 8300 and 8400 series are classified as SD40-2s, they were rebuilt from SD40s. All non-Dash 2 identification features were retained.Several leasing companies own SD40s as well, many of which have been rebuilt to Dash 2 standards, but are SD40s externally.

RE: SD40 Model Finished

I'm thinking of the 6200s, which were retired around 1992 or 1993; some were later rebuilt to Dash 2 standards similar to the CSX units and numbered from 6960 to 6999.

Looks good,we have been certainly in need of a run of the mill 40
Any chance of a DB version with the vertical mars light rig in the lower nose and no roof beacon? I know a bunch of CGW and CB&Q folks who'd kill for that.Gary S

RE: SD40 Model Finished

How about #7347 in the 1984 LA Olympics scheme? Also, a "Kodachrome" version painted for the anticipated merger with Santa Fe would be nice.

RE: SD40 Model Finished

Looks great!DB loco:
CN
first few 5000's had DB's.
Most CN SD40's did not have DB's but a few did IIRC.
Cant wait for the model!
That model means a DW&P SD40 could roll outta a paint shop

ooooooh. Which modeling program? I'll definitely add some ICG SD40s to my to-do list. Any chance I could have a copy of the source when you're done with it so I can add custom parts straight on to the model?
