Well. I have a wagon I am making. Its my first and because it was only used in wokrs trains (from my understanding) I don't think the poly count would matter to mcuh because you may see only 2 or 3 at the max from what I have heard in a train. But, I still feel uncomfortable about the poly count. Is there anyway I can lower it?

Hi, Looked at the screen shot, the first thing I would suggest is that you re-do your wheel sets, make them say 12 to 16 points,if they are open wheel sets, then play around with the count to make them look rounder without going overboard, currently they look like they are as close to round as you can get, that will use a large amount of polys, same as the axles. The other thing you can do is delete all the faces (polygons) that are not visible when in MSTS, eg. the underneath of the wagon, any faces that can not be seen. Not knowing what the wagon will be when done makes it difficult to say what could be omitted, but for the end result the poly count should be less than the one listed before conversion if possible. The first wagon I made had a large poly count aswell, I tried to make it as close to real life as possible, doesn`t pay in the long run as large poly counts and MSTS don`t like each other much.If you want any more info or help in reducing the poly count I am only an email away, plus a few time zones if your not in the land down under. He's making one of these:When the model is at that stage, I would be aiming for around <1000 polys, not >3000--Victorian Railfan Web Site: http://www.railpage.org.au/vr/Australian Bulldogs for MSTS! B, S, GM & 42's now available!
Yup exactly. I'm going to re-do the wheels and those axels. Edit- Woah!!!!! After taking out just one wheel set, the poly coutns down to1748 converted I'm over the poly count. Now its down to a bit under 300.
