Is there a model of a B23-7 anywhere? (I need one for some upcoming repaints) I know about John Peterson's excellent U-boat/dash-7 models(including a BQ23-7), but I saw no straight B23-7s among them. If necessary, I could use John's U36B model, which is reasonably close to a B23-7, but I would prefer to have a "true" B23-7 model if at all possible. I'd be interested in the same model. I'm nearly finished with a repaint of John Peterson's U36B as a standin for the B23 like some other modellers have done. If there's a more correct model I'm all ears. Just curious, any road names in mind? Mine's Illinois Railnet #7.
I plan to do a whole slew of Class 1 schemes, including ATSF, BNSF, CSX, UP, SP, MoPac, and Conrail (I'll start with BNSF). That'll keep me busy for a while. Jonathan Nikiforovs. Milepost 180, CP Belleville Sub.
In My Opinion, none of John Petersons current models would be a good match for the B23-7. It would be better to wait for him or someone else to actually create one. (DOn't think I haven't thought about it.)
You're right Pete, none are really a good match for a B23 (the U36B is still the closest). I think I will wait until someone comes up with a B23-7 model, and then I will start skinning. BTW, I am not the only one to think of using a U36B model for a B23-7. There are 2 such repaints in the library now.Jonathan Nikiforovs. Milepost 180, CP Belleville Sub.
Those are what gave me the idea to do the same. In terms of general appearance, its appears a good choice but there are subtle and not-so-subtle differences. The most notable is the bulge in the long hood being well forward of the radiator wings instead of at the wings like on the U33/36. Different doors, knuckle busters, grills , etc., can be dealt with in the repainting. I don't know what other differences might exist (not counting horn posistion and the like) without learning more about the B23. Is there something I'm overlooking that might persuade me not to continue and wait? I'm not a rivet counter, but I like to stay close to the truth whenever possible.
I have been working on and off on this BNSF version of a........U36B.......but looks close to a B23-7. I haven`t really spent alot of time on it ....... lotsa issues still remain with mapping and things. Most of my time is spent on SW1500`s and SW1000`s........I`ll try and finish it soon and upload it.......I sure would like to add all the stuff on the roof like that BNSF SD40-2 has.Scott Guzik
