Has anyone thought about doing a couple "What if they had built them Loco's"? Take the GP30, Never made a SD30, Would be cool. I saw in an article that CP looked into Alco 600 series engines in the Full Body Flavor. I don't remember why they didn't. How about a C630F, C636F maybe? The typical Alco Cab with a wide body engine cover like the EMD F45 & FP45's.Just A Thought!
I'm doing some imaginered stuff but it's nothing along the line of what you have.just for giggles, I'm making a not to scale engine with Wallace and Grommit riding on it (the idea came from "the wrong trousers")If you post some drawing ideas, I could see about doing one of those. Dunno when I'd have it though.
This was back in the late 70's early 80's MR awarded their monthly Dremel award to a modeler who majorly kitbashed together an HO scale SD30 in the EMD livery complete with an EMD support truck. An SD 30 would be an interesting fantasy loco for MSTSGary S

Here are the Alco C636F's in A&B Units. If anyboby is interested in these, I have the full set. Drop an E-mail. The SD30 is in the railroad paint shop @ railnet.com.
Not quite imagineered, actually based in reality, but a 'what-if?'Advanced Passenger Train - Squadron (APT-S). Currently only a 3d model sitting on my HD, with no access to MSTS, I'm limited to doing the model and mocking up some textures. So, don't expect anything soon, probably some time over summer. I have to do a site visit to the surviving APT-P, to get some good detail shots. I'll post a pic later.
I've got an APT on my system. Downloaded it a VERY long time ago. Though, when I got it there was a funny readme that said Don't skin it, don't upload any skins for it, nor any other adjustments or third party items. So, I ran it like twice and just shuffled it to the back of my HD. Haven't run it since.
I've always thought a body forward GP9 with a steam loco cab would be fun. Or an electric steam loco. (the stack is used as the panto. preferably telescoping) Or even a steamer with diesel running gear. -Jeff
Heh. Well, there are actually the last two. Or were.In switzerland and france, during the second world war, there were a couple electric steam locomotives made. They had a panto on the cab roof and used electric filamints to heat the water. Supposedly it was really effective, but nothing more than a stop gap procedure to keep from having to build new electric engines. Now, the second isn't something I've seen, but I have seen pictures of the opposite. In cuba, there's a couple steam engines, which when their boilers were shot, the railroads just stripped the boiler off and put a diesel engine in its place. Fuel is carried in a big tank on the front of the engine, and the running gear and pistons are still there. Looks REALLY odd.I've heard that there's another type where they seal the smokebox and cut it off half way and placed the diesel engine behind it. In both cases they still used the old steam locomotive cab. There's a saying.Somewhere there's a prototype of anything.
