RE: How is that 4-8-8-2 SP cab forward coming along?
I can go so far as to say that there is one in progress but to say when it would be released is kind of an impossiblity. As far as people's report of cab forward progress believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. Erik and I have been discussing the project and he recently unearthed a collection of books on the cab forward including the book by Robert Church. If you're not familiar with the name the books written by Robert Church are a first rate resource for modelers. I have the book he wrote on the SP mountains and it was well worth the money. I have on my hard disk about 100 pictures of various detail shots I took of the 4294 while I was still living in Sacramento. I'll be out in the Sac area visiting family here soon and plan on doing some more research on the project. Of course if I build one I'll be looking for someone to paint it. I love to build but I hate to paint which is why I have about 4 steamers on my computer that have never been released. Maybe with a cab forward as bait I might be able to finally lure someone into doing paint work for me. As for a release date there is none, it will be released when it is ready and built properly. If it weren't for the fact that the info has already gotten out that SLW was planning on one I wouldn't be replying to this. I prefer to not anounce projects anymore so that people don't ask when it will be done. As an alternative if you want it done sooner gmax is free and I could tell you where to obtain scale drawings

Its real, standing behind the firebox, boiler, and smoke was probably a thought provoking situation, there’s got to be a better way had to have been in their minds. This was a special purpose engine I’m sure.Anyone know what it was?
