This is a continuation of the Can someone... conference which implies that it is looking for modelers. With a modeler (me) already chosen to make the equipment, it is confusing to have that title. In development are Strasburg Railroad 4-8-0 #475, the Hello Dolly open observation coach, and the Donald E. L. Hallock combine coach. Here is a recent photo of the 475 in TSModeler. Alpha channels are in place, but TSM is not capable of displaying them.Joel Lefever

Ok, so I need six versions: Narrow gauge 2, 3, and 4 truck, Standard Gauge 2, 3, and 4 truck. I MIGHT put it up, don't count on anything. It really isn't intended to be upload quality.I have a new photo. It includes: Smoke, headlight, whistle, textures, and an all new model of the Strasburg RR J Tower! The arrow points to the whistle.

RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

Maybe true, but the minute some narrow-gaugers don't get one, I'll have billions of emails in my inbox asking for one. Anyone know what roadnames had the ng shays, though? I'll do standard gauge ones as Cass.
Does anyone else have all my pictures showing up as icons and a link you have to click on to see it? Why does this happen? That's a pain.

RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

There sure were 4 truck shays. I've even heard of a six truck. Basically they had a full sized locomotive tender attached to the rear with power trucks under it. Six truck engines had the tender before it.There's a huge 4 truck shay already in the file library.

>There's a huge 4 truck shay already in the file library. Yeah but that's the only one. It's good that Joel is making new ones so we get some variation. The 4 truck in the lib is way too big for small logging roads.Anyway, thanks Joel for taking on the project of doing new Shays and the #475 and #90. Sure, I'll be part of NGVW! Aside from SRR, narrow gauge is my favorite. What would I do as part of NGVW?Have I put up the picture of the J Tower yet? If not, here it is. The red arrow points to the barely visible steam from the whistle of 475. I have all of 475's textures and about 50% of 475's textures ready. It'll almost definitly be available or just about available within 1 month. For those who have supported its construction, you will get the complete model and TSM project 2 weeks in advance. RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

Well, Kevin, for you, that won't be very far off, at least for the locomotive. Since you get it 2 weeks in advance, you can run it soon. To those who I give the model in advance to: The pistons and front wheels are far too dark. If you can, when I give it to you, send me another texture for a lighter part. The loco should be out in a little over a month, but the route has no deadline. It isn't very far, I'm just showing you pictures of what's there. Anyone want to model an Amish farm and a texture that looks like a field? Once that's done, I can virtually finish off the landscape. ThanksJoel Lefever

Not much left to talk about. I finished off the basic side rod assembly yesterday, it now has connections to the pistons. It looks like it has Stevenson valve gear, so I just have a few left to make it be Walshearts.
I still need permission for textures from

When I say "give permission", all you have to do is send an email that says

I have all the permissions! 475 should be in public within about a month, but there's a little left to do on the tender and the rods, but it's almost ready. Anyone have any opinion: If I send out the D.E.L.Hallock it'll take longer, but more equipment will be available. I won't upload it by itself. When I send the files to those who put in effort for them, they will get the TSM files. Please do not send the full file to anybody, although I will permit sending single parts.Thank you to everyone!

It'll probably have two .eng files: One for the K36 sound/cab in File Library, and the other for the default Scotsman. The idea is you use the K36 if you have it. Yes, I will add a simple representation of the museum.SRR Route problem: For some reason, after my recent edit, it freezes when I run the route. The bar at the bottom is just under halfway across the screen. The first time it brought up a blue screen with some error, but as you know, EVERYBODY understands things like: Error 23879265972384973693825189620000000000837498132749832. Since then it just freezes. I did work on: terrain, crossings, route properties, and track. Any ideas? Should I post on the Route Forum?Thank you,

RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

I probably will soon, but I have three tips that help me make sure a route doesn't screw itself up: Backup, Backup, Backup. I have roughly 5 copies of the SRR route in the hard drive, including one of the "old" version I built for myself. (It was really short, maybe 1.5 miles long) I probably should delete some. I've had to work hard to get the old one to the condition of the new one, minus errors, but it isn't difficult work, just long work. You're right, I've lost about four routes to the RE. Talk about weird.Joel Lefever

Two ways: First, even with the problem, a consist made with the locomotive coupled with the front coupler at the beginning will still work properly. Second, if you want to couple to the front without that problem, there is an update patch thing on the Microsoft Train Simulator Insider webpage. The IVRR doesn't exist, incidentally. The Strasburg Railroad is occaisionally involved in making Thomas movies and some of the coaches are repainted Indian Valley for those movies. They're all Strasburg owned, but some have other railroad names on them. I like that Marian photo. Do you think you could get some photos of it at 90 degrees from the track, and maybe some of the interior next time you're there? That way I could start a first class car set.Joel Lefever

Yes I will be there as one of the troops but I am not sure where I will be. 33rd signal is the group I belong to. We portray US Army Signal Corp linemen from WWII. The full title is 33rd Signal Construction Batalion but that takes too long to write. I was there as a railfan last year. 89 sure looked sweet with the mixed. I shot black and white film that day and it turned out real nice.Kevin

They did come out nicely. Too bad you didn't do color. When I took pictures, most of them were from the caboose cupola or looking into the forest. So a lot of them were pretty dark. I could send you a few if you are interested.Speaking of 89, you said a while back you had diagrams for it and 31. Could you send them sometime? Thanks! series_fourth_dimension@yahoo.comJoel Lefever

The Strasburg would not be complete with out the 90! Not trying to increase your work load, but 90 would make it more worth the wait.....- Jeffrey

RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

Thanks. I personally like #90 more than any other one of SRR's locomotives. It is the cleanest and strongest and it has the most space in the cab. Plus, I believe, it does the least damage to the track. Does anyone else want to help with building the fleet? I'm getting my projects folder pretty full with 475, 90, two coaches, some interiors, backups, etc. I could build locos and someone else build coaches, or vice versa.Joel Lefever

Does anyone mind if I make the valve gear simple Stevensons? It's getting really difficult to make all of it work.Joel Lefever

I don't mind it being simple. I just hope 475 has more parts than the picture of it that I found. So far, it looks like you've met that goal.mrWM734current project: B&O R.R. "Atlantic"

RE: Strasburg Railroad Equipment

Not much more left to show, Mike. 475's finished. As soon as I talk to Okrasa Ghia about some trucks he made that I used, I'll be sending it to those who helped work on it for beta testing. I'll include 475 and Hello Dolly, as well as their TSM files.Joel Lefever
