I have a cabview file where the "Wheel Slip" light does not come on. I know the wheel must be slipping as I am moving backwords and I am at Run 8 in foreword.I have added a wheel slip entry into the "cvf" file that was missing and an wheel slip "ace" file that works from another locomotive. I know that the location will have to be adjusted, but I can not even get the light anywhere in the cab to start. Am I missing an entry in the "eng" file that is necessary to activate wheelslip?Newton Kid
Don't know exactly about how to activate a dead slip light, I've got an RS2/3 cab the same way. However, you can double check to make sure the engine is truly slipping by hitting the F5 key to activate the "Heads Up" display. When slippage occurs, "Wheelslip Indication" will appear in purple letters. First verify you ARE slipping, then you can know where to head next.Andre Ming
Andre Ming,Excellent recommendation. I did try that and it did prove that I was slipping. Thanks for the suggestion.I did find my answer. I was going back over the "cvf" file as I had a half dozen times and finally realized that although I had added the two subroutines I needed, I had not changed the count at the beginning of the section. Changed that and now have the lights.Appreciate your taking time to try and help.Newton Kid
There are some units that slip but i find most do not in any instance. that farmrail gp20 does slip so start there. I will take another look myself today. I tried to play with the adhesion and the locomotive weight making a sd40-2 the same weight and adhesion as the gp20 and could not get it to slip. Antislip is used in the eng file as well. as Antislip ( 0 ) or ( 1 ). hope this might help a bit but i dont think it will. I will try to do some research today and get back to you!rob20
Rob:If you want slippage, and assuming the other values are reasonably accurate for the locomotive in question, the best bet is to INCREASE the "Numwheels" lines. A value of 1 essentially welds the wheels to the rail. Also, I'm not sure what Antislip does, but removing it will also aid the effects of Numwheels.Have at it!Andre
Played with it quite a bit today and found adheasion has almost all to do with it. sd40 at 3000 hp - Adheasion ( 0.15 0.30 1.8 0 ) with 3.5 wheels you get wheelslips in throttle 7+8 until about 13 mph or so. Until the amps start to drop below 800 amps. Works nice I have sd40f wagon files for cp 9000 cp 9001 and cp 9020 with cabs and sound if anybody wants it call me at msn messenger name organgrinderrob20
