(Australia) Need Hitachi pics

Hi all,Can anyone help me with good, clear side/end/top shots of Melbourne Hitachi electric trains? This is the result of ten minutes mucking around with TSM, but good shots would help me alot, and I'd actually finish the thing!!! We need some Melbourne EMUs. You'll notice that the end texture is that of a motor, but the side one is of an ex-driving trailer, hence no side driver's window. This can be fixed with better pics. All help is appreciated.Cheers,

Me being in Sydney I can't really help you there, but if you can get your hands on Railway Digest they from time to time have a few photos of Melbourne EMU's. Other than that try the ARHS book store for a book which might help you however if you want to use the photos as part of the texture too you're going to have to get out there yourself and photograph them or come to an agrement with someone who can provide photos for you to use.Projects
- 421 class Public Transport Commission of New South Wales diesel electircs:
No. 1 end - 23% (Nose is about 5/8th finished)
Huge rebuild of original parts going on at the moment (i.e. pilots, bogies and other things)
Overall - 25.0%
- 422 class New South Wales Government Railways diesel electircs:
On the drawing boards for a project after the 421's.
Overall - Not officialAs I sit here chewing on my MSTS CD, I wonder why did God make MS?

What you have done so far is pretty good, so you must have some good pictures already.

Evening all...Here's the latest Hitachi update. Thanks to Ian and Adrian, I have some brilliant pics to work with. I've textured one side, and am working on the other before I redo the ends and top. Work continues. Oh yeah, if someone on the Australian Railpage forums would like to upload this pic to there, I'd appreciate it as I'm not sure how to go about it.Cheers,

Nice shot, it's been a while since I've seen a Hitachi looking so...well...CLEAN!Here's the result of a few minutes work. This modular building idea of mine paid off. We now have a motor with the correct number of doors!Cheers,

More pics. Mabye this should go in the Screenshots forum, but I've put it here to stop splitting threads and to elicit suggestions from the design community. Here is the trailer car, easily done with the modular construction idea I've introduced. This modular idea means I have lengths of carbody, one with a sliding doorset, one with three saloon windows, one with two and another with the motor car end. I assemble these as required. I thought of this for two reasons. Firstly, it makes texturing alot easier, and secondly it means I can texture each 'chunk' separately, with larger textures and more detail. In the sim they don't look too bad, especially snaking along in a six-car set. Underbody, roof and interiors to come, along with front and rear improvements.The trailer car

Suggestions for improvement welcome. For Non-Melbournites, these EMUs were introduced in the early 1970s and are just beginning to be withdrawn with the introduction of new trains.Cheers,

Hey there, Mathew!Long time no see! And wow! You've got a nice piece of equipment there! You're texturing is very realistic, and the trainshed pic made me look real close to see if it was real or memorex. Your modular idea is a winner. I've been using a similar idea in building a 1907 Jewett for the ol' Oregon Electric, and the texturing is alot sharper, allowing for greater depth of detail. This could be used to build all kinds of traction cars, as most were offered in varying lengths of the same design, such as the old Brill Semiconvertibles, etc.Keep up the great work, Matt!talk to you later, my friend,Tim

More progress. I've redone the front tex, and added the fiddly little bits like roof walkway mounts, guard's periscope, coupler detail. MU cables and air hoses. Now just the bogie mounts and underfloor equipment then it's on to an interior.Cheers,

>I thought that shot would pick up an eye brow somewhere The photo was taken along time ago back around the time the sparks turned green. 140M had a yellow strip applied along it's side (The colour in the photo above is not quite correct) as a test I beleive. It was the only one done and only carried it for a short time before it turned green.Christine.
