LAST EDITED ON Jan-01-03 AT 12:04 PM (EST)

NS doesnt own any B40's so I decided to repaint it to a D8-32. Not really much of a difference. The C40's have 6 axles and B's have 4.

RE: Norfolk Southern D8-32CW uploaded

Happy New Year Marcus,Great job on that paint job, however I'm confused.Educate me, if you would please. I always thought the "C" in the designation "32CW" represented that the engine used "C" type trucks, while the "W" stood for a wide cab version. This model has two axle trucks, or "B" style. A "C" truck has 3 axles, doesn't it?Please clear this up for me. According to this book I got for Christmas, "Modern Locomotives - High Horsepower Diesels", the D8-32CW should be a 3200 HP GE locomotive with 6 axles and the North American Safety (wide)Cab.Please understand this in no way reflects on your great reskinning. I'm just trying to understand something that's been confusing me for some time, and that's how to identify and recognize the various models and designations. Now just seems like a good opportunity to pose this question. Thanks, and have a great 2003 -Larry

Im gonna have to keep an eye out my window and watch to see if it comes again. But Im sure it was a D8-32CW. Maybe they had a repaint error. It said -32CW but could really be a -32BW

For those with problems in line errors...check the lines above and below the cab/sounds alias line. You may have corrupted the file by changing the position. But if that dont work...this is the .eng file. In the .eng file click: select all, delete, paste. (But copy the file below first) Hope this helps.SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0D0t______Wagon ( 8dash40bw

The only railroad with B40-8W's is Santa Fe (BNSF Now) and only railroad with P32-8BWH's is Amtrak. No other freight railroad in America has widecab GE Four axle diesels. There are some C40-8W's in the library in NALW'S GE Megapak.

Does it really matter what railroad has what here at train-sim?I work for the NS and I know that there are no wide nose b40-cw but it still looks good in the sim.

I dl'ed it and looked at the eng file. Change the name to this - it should make it turn up first in conbuilder. Don't forget the two spaces before the *.

It is a version of the D8-32B that I saw but I think I could be wrong. Im starting to think it was B now. Well anyway, it is a 4 axled 3200hp GE loco that is owned by NS and modified version by Amtrak the P32-8CW I think. Good news but bad news...I got a new repaint that looks wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better that the one you all got but I need some help on the lighting of it. Here is a screen shot of the 'new' version:

RE: Norfolk Southern D8-32CW uploaded

I had the same problem finding it in the acitvity editor also, until I realised it had the same .eng, .s, and .sd file as the original BNSF B40-8W by Danny Beck which is called 8dash40bw. In the folder in this locomotive, it is also called 8dash40bw. I added an "ns" in front of the names of the 3 above mentioned files and called it "ns8dash40bw." Then in the .eng file, I did the same thing wherever it said 8dash40bw, I just added the ns to it. Then the next time I loaded the activity editor, the locomotive showed up. I guess the name conflicted with the original B40-8W locomotive. Hopes this helps you all. Nice repaint, Marcus
