RE: Long Nose

I'd like to convert Ron Paludan's GN GP9's, also based on 3D's model, to long-hood-forward. Can your 180-degree mod be applied to other hood diesels, and what would be involved?

RE: Long Nose

If it's based on 3DTrains GP9 you can use those textures with the revised s-file. Reversing a shape can be done with the latest version of Shape File Manager as I sent those updates to Paul Gausden (author of SFM).
The most involved part is to get the lights and smoke right and of course to get permission from the orignal author of the shape if you want to release it. Teemu also has some Fairbanks-Morse TrainMasters running long hood forward that you can find in the file library.

RE: Long Nose

Thanks. I'm only looking to score long-hood-forward diesels in small quantities for personal recreational use, and I have no intent to distribute. Seriously, I can't believe it's as simple as just overwriting the .s file! I'm off to try it ...

RE: Long Nose

Thanks. So far I've come up dry turning the GN geep around ... can't get it to show up in the activity editor. I've probably failed to edit some line in the .eng file or something.

RE: Long Nose

The main railroads that ran them long hood forward was N&W, Southern, and some PRR engines. Most of the first generation were setup long hood forward.Kevin Arceneaux
