That looks like an EMD NW5.I don't think it has been made yet (but I could be wrong). Gimme a couple of months (and remind me), and I'll take a crack at it if there's interest.Brian.

RE: interesting loco

I think it is an ex-Great Northern NW5, later used by the BN with numbers in the 990 series. The engines were built as passenger terminal switchers; the short hood housed a steam heat boiler for passenger cars. I recall that several of them were sold to the Kyle railroad, and set in the dead line for several years at Goodland, Kansas. I took some photos, somewhere in my slide collection. Good to see that one of them is active again.

it is an interesting loco and actually this one has been in service for a long time at this railroad so I dont think it might have ever been out of service.

RE: interesting loco

This description is from the pages of The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide, 1985 edition:The 1000hp NW-5 had a short hood which sheltered a steam generator. Roster of NW-5's: 13 units were produced between December, 1946 and February, 1947. Great Northern bought 10 (numbered 186-195, later BN 986-995).Union Belt of Detroit bought two units (numbered 1 and 2), actually lettered Fort Street Union Depot; number 1 was sold to Olin-Mathieson Chemical Company, becoming number 4. The steam generator was removed and the short hood was cut down. Number 2 was sold to Mississippi Export, becoming number 61.Southern purchased one unit (road number 2100).Goodland, KS March 14, 1983Interesting loco – image 14
