yeah that's about the same tune sung by the freakin' USOC when i asked them if i could use the logos for the 2002 UP torch train. pardon my french but, greedy arrogant bastards...... that angered me alot.....i'm gonna try them again, but have a feeling they'll say no again. btw i bet i can find a legal loophole for the USOC copyrighting the name olympic because they do not own that name, that name was made up LONG before the united states let alone the USOC even existed...who knows? maybe i'll get them busted! wishfull thinking, but hey, it could happen....maybe.Tough Repaint! Hire a really good lawyer, you might just be able to do it though Oh and get this..They're forcing UP to reroute all of their Haz-Mat trains, during the olympics because they're afraid the trains are gonna blow up near the site of the 2002 Games http://www.teamster.org/overnite/overnitepr_020209_1.htmTough Repaint! Very odd

You would think that a tourist line would be a bit more enthusiastic about free advertising. Sometimes the one who gets the letter, just doesn't "Get It".Ron

RE: Tough Repaint! Any takers?

"Verde Canyon"? I'll take 10 if someone does it, just to distribute to everyone I work with as a remembrance of our ex-boss. We were so happy to be free of him! Don't have any repaint talents or capabilities however, so I can't do a repaint.By the way, where is this railroad located?

RE: Tough Repaint! Any takers?

About 75 miles north east of Phoenix,Az. it was started by the Verde copper mining company's. Now I think their only revenue is from hauling their own coal and the tourist rides. Same company owns the line and a very large cement plant. No loads go out, just in, at least not by rail.It is a neat ride tho. Going to go again shortly to see one of the few places in Az that shows fall colors.

what about all that legal junk Marc? i guess what they don't know can't hurt em' huh? BTW looks great so far...just as all of your f-series do. btw, do you use tsm or 3dc pro for your models? gonna make my sd60's in 3dc pro but is tsm better or worse for making trains compared to 3d canvas pro?Tough Repaint! >what about all that legal junk Marc? What legal junk? I haven't released anything, and if I release it as a freebie what could they do? As a matter of fac, if I ever get the thing done, I might send them a screen shot. As for the modeling between TSM and 3DC - stick to 3DC - no better support, and doesn't have the quirks of TSM.Cheers!

RE: Tough Repaint! Any takers?

Although I own 3DC, I use Max and gMax exclusively - I guess old habits are hard to break. E-units are coming along nicely - UP, PRR and ATSF done, now to other roads. Cheers!

RE: Tough Repaint! Any takers?

They can't stop you from making a model of one of their engines (nor can UP). Making a MSTS model of an engine is no different legally than doing a real world model or a painting. The model is yours to do what you like with. If you were to use trademarks and such in a non-prototypical manner to do something commercial or to counterfeit material you might get a call from the lawyers but if you do an as exact representation of a true world prototype as you can there is nothing they can do. If you run a business things are a little different and it's very wise to get approval before going along with the product. When was the last time you heard of a model railroder taken to court because he made a model of a UP engine?
A judge would not even think of taking such a case.

RE: Tough Repaint! Any takers?

Yes, sorry. Richard's support is second to none IMHO. He's also very active in his own forums, answering questions and joining discussions regarding features/improvements. This helps make folks feel that they're part of the process of creation, rather than someone on the sidelines waiting for the next release. That in itself makes 3DC worth its weight (and then some). Cheers!
