wich it NSSD40_1.ZIP, The Image even within the file is a Conrail SD40-2

RE: I don't know

As I recall, the former Conrail, and it's rolling stock, was divided between Norfolk Southern and CSX. Both Railroads are preparing to repaint their share of former Conrail engines, but in the meantime are placing temporary markings. I believe the former Conrail equipment now operated by NS is being marked 'PRR', and I wonder if that is what the modeler who provided the NSSD40_1.zip download has intended. Sure looks that way on the side of the cab. If so, then I would say he has done a nice model, and I offer my thanks.
Incidentally, I understand that the former Conrail equipment passed to CSX is being temporarily relettered as 'NYC'.

First of all, You should have EMAILED me like the readme says if you have a problem instead of shouting PROBLEM here. I am more than glad to help people out. Anyone that "knows" me on here will tell you this. Neither NS or CSX has repainted all of their ex-Conrail units yet. I see units with a "patch" like this EVERY DAY!!! This particular unit, has been on the H12 local which runs near my house. Go to any website for NS pictures, and you will surely find more pics like the skin I did.....
And I made an error in the alias files when I uploaded. For the CR SD40-2s I uploaded, 6478, 6392, and the NS patch #3417, all the cabviews are aliased to the 6392. So you need it installed for them to work. Or just email me like the readme says, and I will send you the correct file.I edited this to add this picture. This is an NS patch unit. just like the one I did.I don't know – image 4

The Conrail Merger paintjobs, or lack thereof...

I don't know – image 6

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-02 AT 11:16 AM (EST)

FYI: There are really neat benefits to these merger "renumberings".Fallen Flag fans are kind of happy about this, since we didn't see our Conrail Blue dissappear right away...Also:When CSX or NS re-number them, they indicate the pre-1977 owner railroad. Note: 1977 is when Conrail was formed to "rescue them all". In the case of the this particular unit, you will note that under the number are the letters PRR, which stand for Pennsylvania Rail Road. Well I am Sorry for the comment but it's where I have seen others do it so often.First thing I don't know you or anybody that does, So I am sorry about that. You left too many spaces in your e-mail address to actually e-mail (not a real problem)Now as to the info about these Engines I don't see any of these here in Canada however I do know they exist here somewhere. I also don't know who owns what except the CP and CN that is here in Chatham Ontario CanadaMind you I have seen and there is a line that CSX has here.NOW for the Read me it says that I don't have to copy cab and sound files that they are alaised from the new SD40-2 which I have downloaded from Microsoft. Here is a part of that Readme FileNorfolk Southern SD40-2 #3417 by The Keystone WorksInstallation: 1. Unzip the contents of this file to your Trainset folder(Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Trains\Trainset) 2. No need to copy Cabview and Sound folders as alias files have been included to the new SD40-2 sounds and new cabview with an added bonus of a repainted cabview. 3. Create a consist and enjoy!!There is a different change from the outside view thought I don't get the light that appears in the front (a reflection) that the New Engine has.My apologies for posting here about this.here are two Picture of what I got with this Engine the First one is the cabview.
The second one is something totaly odd probably nobodies fault but it was a strange shot.

RE: I don't know

The 'see-through' SD40-2 is an interesting abberation. Looks like it might be a problem with your video card or video drivers. I recall getting some effects like that - I called them 'ghost trains' - when I first started up with MSTS. I cured the problem on my system by getting a better video card.
To assist the experts here with understanding your problem, can you describe the specs of your computer? Stuff like, what kind of video card, how much RAM, your type of CPU and its speed?

First, my email address is broush@stny.rr.comSecond, I agree with ge44tonner, that see through locomotive is a Video problem. I had these engines beta tested by at least 5 people with no problems. Now for the aliasing problem. If you send me an email, I will send you the corrected alias file to eliminate that problem.

RE: I don't know

The computer specs seem to be pretty good. You might try loading the most recent video drivers from Nvidia. Another idea might be to minimize the number of programs that are running in the background while MSTS is operating. If the 'ghost-train' image was a one-time fluke, and has never recurred, maybe it's not an ongoing problem. Glad that you were able to fix the cab-view aliasing problem.
