Ok, everyone what do you really think of my 'S' truck? I don't care what you say as long as it is what you really do think of it, so even if you hate me, forget that for a minute and tell me what you really think of my 'S' truck.I thank you all for taking the time to reply.

Why are there so many posts about Phoenix?(Phoenix - remember your inane post on the traction forum about too many Matt postings?!)Well, not too bad, apart from the fact that you're paying out on friends of mine and tearing work apart. You wouldn't have AS by chance, would you? it'd explain alot! When you stop paying out on the work of others, then you'll get alot of constructive adcive.Cheers,

That was quick!AS=Asperger's Syndrome. Look it up, it might be informative. The whole Matt thing was that it looked like you didn't like anyone else getting compliments. You have some talent, just stop the whole arrogant thing. Life would be so much more fun that way. The big thing is that you needlessly criticise people who put in hundreds of hours of work, and this grates...Cheers,

Phoenix, if I were you I would can the arrogant attitude. I really can't work out what you have against Ben Shields. You seem to get some sort of enjoyment out of ripping his work to shreds. If you don't like it, then don't download it. No one is forcing you to use his rolling stock. Also, doing things like rating everyone's rolling stock really doesn't achieve anything. It will only make you even more unpopular and has the potential to divide the community here.BTW, I'm not really replying to anything in this thread. I'm just talking in general.--

It looks way out of scale to me. I'll build my own, that way I can be sure it is to scale. I don't like to run other stuff because I don't know if it is to scale or not.

Well, it is infact to scale, they were about 7' tall 18' wide 9' 6" long (from 1 side to the other) and built for Australian loading gauges.

Well I really haven't looked at S wagons, but the general model looks ok to me with my limited knowledge of the prototype. However, it is often the texturing that can make or break a model. I'll have to wait until you start texturing it before I can make any real judgements.--

RE: Read and reply

Ok here we go,
First of all I see a gap near the door on the side. Not sure if its meant to be there. You might have to adjust one of the side faces to the correct location.Do any polygons intersect on your model? This effects the performance of msts as it gets confused. The effect is minimal but with a great number of polys intersecting then the performance might seriously degrade. Lastly it seems a detailed representation of an s-truck and could be more suited to Hi-poly modelling applications such as to make a nicely rendered image (like on the box of MSTS). Your not the only one here who can do this type of modelling. In the gaming industry, 3d graphic artists need to adapt to the game they are designing for, in this case is MSTS. You cant just rewrite the rules and build over the top (in terms of poly count) models and expect the game to perform in satisfactory way. Try to put 30 of those s-trucks on a train and you will see what happens. We can all build highly detailed models, but the challenge is to build them to a budget and still maintain realism.

If you are going to post an unfinished model without textures, at least you could give us a wireframe to look at.Personally, I don't like it... but then I have no use for this kind of prototype.

I agree with Joseph, building for the sim is a fine balancing act, between what we wish and what the sim lets us do. You develop modelling techniques to give you the best advantage while keeping TS happy.

RE: Read and reply

Ok ok, the gap you see is just because of the angle of the shot. Now to the frame rate issue, I have got about 35 of my 'S' trucks, 3 of your C-30's (numbers 3113, 3121, 3131) and a test route which I use to test out all my models on, and I got with the whole train in view a frame rate of 5 fps. This is without the distance levels built in, these should incrase frame rates somewhat due to the amount of detail which can only be seen when within about 100m of the model. My computer isn't fast either, as the best fps I've ever had was 32 fps in a tunnel on NEC travelling light engine!!!

Hey pheonix. I don't normally run wagons like that but sometimes load em up just for the fun of it. It looks like it will be a good one. Like they're sayin though Can't tell without textures on it. IT does look good. I also have ADD *attention deafasit disorder*(don't hold me to the spelling of it* and Cerival palsey *affects your muscles so they don't tone up, that's why I'm a really skinny/tall 17 year old* ADD affects as it states your attention span. It makes it harder to pay attention to things for a long period of time. Most people with ADD don't do well in school because they can't pay attention enough. I'm a lucky one who has a very low ADD level and I do well in skewl A-C grades but sometimes it is harder to concentrate than others. It gets worse with a lot of activity going on. And well Cerival Palsy like I said makes your muscels unable to tone up like they should so when most kids my age are lifting 150+ I'm struggling with 90 or so, which is a mild case. most with CP can only lift 50 max with the diseas. Yes they are for life, but they don't affect my life much. sure I get teased for being a gimpy MOFO but I have true friends who don't even care how much I lift and I'm in weight class and everyone in there encourage me to be as good as I can even if I'm not top of my weight class. I do well in school like I said so ADD is a very mild strand when most people bounce off the walls with it. so I'm a fortunate unfortunate Teen. I have the love of my life who I'm gonna marry in 3 1/2 years when she graduates *I'm a 17 year old JR in Highschool when she's a 15 year old freshman* I met her almost 4 months ago, we've been goin out for a month and just over 2 weeks now and already have plans to get married on June 18 2006. So I have a lot to look foward too. I'm planning on going to wyoming Tech for diesel and basic auto mechanics and want to own my own small ranch in Minesota.
Sorry for the long email. Just thought I'd clear up what ADD is what other disease I had and how it didn't affect me 2 much in my lifestyle.
Like I said pheonix nice wagon, but Not a full comment since it's not texed.

You spelt some words wrong, but I can't spell for peanuts either! I did once live with someone who had CP for 1 week, at first it was rather hard, but after a couple of days, I learnt to treat him like any other normal person, and by the end of the week I was having a great time caring for him. He is in a wheelchair, and will within 5 years (as I recall, it might be slightly longer) die. Yes, indeed I often pull crazy stunts, and my true friends don't care about that, they don't even care if I go and watch trains during lunch time. I can however go and watch trains for hours on end, and not complain at all, trains are what I live for, and without problems I may have at the time I can just get over them as soon as I'm around trains.Anyway, I'll be posting pictures of the final model (without final texturing) soon.

I too have ADD. I am a 18 year old freshman in college and I am doing excellent. The great thing about ADD is that it wears off after while and while you sucked in High School you really improved in College. In High School I had a C+ Avearge but now that I'm in College and halfway through the Semester I'm pulling an B+ Average! . Let me tell you something, those medicines that are for ADD do crap for anyone. I taken 2 diffrent medicines and they both sucked. They never help me concerate or help me pay attention better. I don't know how serious my ADD was and its too late to find out because as I mentioned before it wears off after while and I think mine is going...going...gone! I also have a hearing aid, and Leg Braces. So I'm not very good at lifting weights either and I'm not the fastest person at my school but I still love to run. Espically in the dark. I too love Trains, I espically like to build and work on Model Trains, but I still feel like a kid on Christmas Morning when I see a Norfolk Southern Freight train passing through town and I do try to chase it lol, in a car of course. I also have a love for Siamese Cats. I have 1 Siamese Cat name Sara, she is 12 years old and shes always made me smile, even during my depression which is another story. Right now I'm working on my love life but even if it doesn't turn out the way it wanted oh well, the right woman will come along someday. My future plan is to be an Air Traffic Controller, with a 1 story house and a basement. I need the basement to build my greatest model train layout EVER! Well thats alittle something about me. Damn and blast, it is really har to compare anything after all down in Australian we aren't marked like A+, B+ and so on. Also lighting weights down here aint a big thing at all. I don't know what the term "freshman" means, so could you please explain it to me? I agree, I hate my medicines, and I cannot see that much of a difference between me without them and me with them. Me, well I'm 14 and couldn't really care less about my love life, infact, I'm not sure if I'll care about when I'm 16 or 18, I live for trains, and as long as I can go out and watch trains, nothing else matters at all.
