Aw c'mon Zach... don't you get an allowance or something? Stay away from 7-11 for a week and you got the $$$. Then go to www.3dtrains.com and get $1000 worth of fun with your $10 Super Chief...Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 3

RE: Santa Fe Super Chief

try not be so mean to the guy, he's only ten ya know. the 7-11 thing wasn't too cool. maybe he doesn't get an allowance. after all, he is only 10. don't want to be mean but there must be reason as to why he cannot afford payware, or maybe his parents won't let him buy anything online. (mine never let me)

Mean? That wasn't the idea. Just wanted to put into perspective for the Z-Man. I'd like to hear HIS opinion as to why he can't/won't pay $10 for the Super Chief. Hey... ya gotta sacrifice if ya want the good stuff. There's tons of freeware of varying quality out there, and I'm sure the $10 barely covers Marc's coffee bill for the day! Zach?

<<I'm sure the $10 barely covers Marc's coffee bill for the day!>>
lol! he does seem to work quite a bit on those locos. but isn't that his bread job? imagine, only 100 downloads and already, $1000 profit! and he has had WAY more downloads than that i'm sure. if not hos primary job, he's securing his retiremt funds that's for sure! I am sorry for snapping at you. not in my nature, but that 7-11 thing got me the wrong way earlier. it's all good.Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 7

RE: Santa Fe Super Chief

No biggie, expressing opinions is what the forum is for! I'm sure Zach knows that it's easy to spend $10 just about anywhere. Try model railroading if you think MSTS is expensive! If he wants the Super Chief badly enough he'll figure out a way to earn the $$$. As for Marc, "imagine, only 100 downloads and already, $1000 profit!"... the $1000 is his gross income. After you subtract the coffee there probably isn't much left over. Don't want to start that whole freeware/payware thing here, Bill... but the $10 I spent on the Super Chief is paying off bigtime in enjoyment value!

RE: Santa Fe Super Chief

Everybody, stop fighting. I just wanted to know where i can get a train!!! besides, i meant the whole trainset, and i didn't know about 3dtrains.com. and yes, i do know a lot about trains. I'm still learning, but I know a lot. And I do get an allowance. I get $3.00 every sunday from my dad. but right now, I'm broke. I spent my money on a Peanuts character pack at Target. Just to make you guys feel better, I do have 50 cents. Thanks a lot!

RE: Santa Fe Super Chief

i am sorry to say but as of right now the only two that i know of that have been released, you have to pay for in one way or another. btw, your probably the youngest person i've seen on the forums.I'm 18 and an in college, and have been into trains since i was 6. welcome to the forums and watch out, train simming can get VERY addicting. since you are young, if you have any questions about how to install locomotives or rolling stock, don't hesitate to ask the people here. They will be happy to help out. One 3d-modeler was going to make the super chief a while back but he decided to give up on it due to public complaints here at the forums. trying to get him to do them, maybe successful, i got him to start on the challengers again! btw you know what the challenger is right? just wondering since your only ten and you may not know types of trains (or not very many) yet. please correct me if i'm wrong.Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 11

RE: Santa Fe Super Chief

The 3D Trains and TrainArtisan Super Chief models are beautiful, but if you're on a shoestring budget, there are Warbonnets and a set of Santa Fe passenger cars in the file library that you can download and use to impersonate the Super Chief.

Those Santa Fe passenger cars aren't much to look at. Plus they have some really pathetic roll resistance.I'm looking forward to JC's UP passenger cars, hopefully someone will do SF repaints of them, as I'm no good at doing corrugated metal...------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 17John Ekhoff

Hi Zach, I know you're looking for super chief F units but I thought you might be interested in some repaints I've recently completed and obtained permission to upload. They're SF Alco PA/PB's the PA's have 2#'s and a PB unit will be included in the upload, I've to compile the read me's and hope to upload by the weekend at the latest.
You can see a sample screenshot in the loco skinning forum on page 2.

I think you might like them, Take care John

The Super Chief did use PA's quite often when they were new locos(mid to late 1940's). So Zach, they will be appropriate locos for the Super Chief. I know I'm going to give them a try when they are avaliable .Just a side thing,
Are you into model railroading too Zach? If you have any specific questions about the Super Chief please post them. I'll be happy to try and answer them and I'm sure many others will too. Matt,
