Jul-25-01, 11:38 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Animating Pantographs !???" Animation is not an easy concept to learn, but here's the basics. You need to make the length of the animation 2 frames I think. You can set that with the "time configuration" button, lower right corner of your screen. Now you need to set the pivot points for the various arms of your pantograph so that they pivot at the correct points. Then you can link the arms properly. With the pantograph in the lowered position, click on the "animate" button (it will turn red). Move the animation slider to frame two and use the "rotate" tool to move the arms into the full up position. If you did your pivots and links correctly, you should be able to get the pantograph into the raised position by only using rotations. once it's raised, turn off animation and you should be set. With all this said, it appears that the animation is not accepted in the sim at this point, but maybe you will be able to figure something out.Cliff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-30-01, 05:36 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Animating Pantographs !???" Don't have MAX yet nor do I plan on doing pantographs, but from inspection of the techdocs, it appears that there are specific material names you need to give your pantograph parts, just like bogies and wheels. There are PantographTop1, PantographBottom1, PantographTop2, and PantographBottom2.Since a pantograph consists of 4 main beams, I assume that each beam must be assigned one of these names. I don't know what the pantograph shoe at the top should be assigned, though - perhaps one of the "Top" names?Hope that helps,Tom

Jul-30-01, 07:28 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Animating Pantographs !???" I've tried in vain to get this to work. It seems to be either a disconnect in conv3ds.exe that isn't passing the animation info through, or I've still not figured it out. I suspect it's the latter. There is one typo in the techdocs though - PantographBottom1 should be attached to Main, not PantographTop1 as it shows in the docs. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
