Jul-25-01, 10:31 AM (EST) 1. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" 3DCanvas definitely makes stationary objects without any problems. 3DCanvas skips the .3DS file creation issue and creates .s files for MSTS. The animation option is new and has not been tested. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-25-01, 10:41 AM (EST) 3. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" Also Richard of 3DCanvas is a very reponsive vendor. His package is amazing considering the price but it is not 3DStudio Max. If you want 3DStudio capability BUY 3DStudio! I just thought I would get this out there before people complain how a $50 package does not have the exact capability of a $3500 dollar package. I like the capability vs price of 3DCanvas so I have been very pleased. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-25-01, 11:03 AM (EST) 4. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" However, according to the web site, the Pro version with .s export ability for MSTS locos IS, i repeat, IS supported. I take this to mean that if it doesn't work right it will be fixed. Also, from what i understand, what is done in MSTS doesn't take full advantage of what the $3500 software offers, so that to me is a waste. I'd rather spend $50 for something that may need a patch or two to fix rather than $3500 for something i will only use a fraction of. Not to mention, my whole computer doesn't cost anywhere near the price of 3D Studio Max - i won't pay more for a piece of software than i did for the machine!Just my two cents.--------- BUZZ Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-25-01, 11:07 AM (EST) 5. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" I'm not a pro modeller, but I have been using 3DCanvas to make stationary objects for almost a week. The program does not have all of the capabilities of something like MAX, but should be more than adequate for most people, and it's only $50, so the price/performance ratio should be enough for most people as well. The new version allows for animation, creation of locos and rolling stock, and now has support for transparency (the previous version had problems with transparent objects because of the material names that MSTS requires). It works, and I have proof: http://www.geocities.com/troub80 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-25-01, 11:12 AM (EST) 6. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" We need someone with the time and the knowhow to try this out for us quickly, just a box on wheels will do for starters, I guess. Unfortunately I am away from my machine this week, but now I am itching to get back home,Ian M.

Jul-25-01, 11:13 AM (EST) 7. "RE: 3D canvas compatible for TS??????????/" I'm sure that someone will have already tried this before i get to, but i will try to do some Heritage Cars (not a whole lot more than a box on wheels) to test it out.------------ BUZZ Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
