Jul-25-01, 07:13 AM (EST) "UK trains" i was wondering if anyone is making a thames turbo (class 166) which runs from london paddington to birmmingham, or a HST in great wetsern colours???? If not is is anyone gonna make a class 158 SWT (south west trains) or a wessex class SWT. all i wanna see is some brit trains!!!!. Seeing as a UK company played a big part in making this game, and ive only seen 1 UK train!!!!!!!!!! I find this quite annoying as we are swamped with US default trains with only the flying scotsman to compete against the accela LOL! well good model makin guys i enjoy all of your work but PLZ PLZ PLZ! someone make some brit trains =0) Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-25-01, 08:44 AM (EST) 3. "RE: UK trains" You don't seem to have looked very hard. On this site you can download the files needed to make the Royal Scot and Pendennis Castle driveable. You can download blue/grey Mk1 carriages too.
Also available is the Eurostar. From www.trainsimfiles.com you can get a Class 47 and various goods stock (BR and GWR) with plenty more coming soon. Its still early days though, and a locomotive takes a LOT of work to create the 3D model, get the painting/texturing right, get the sound effects right, get the physics data right, and then think about the cab view. You can easily spend a month on one.Ian M.

Jul-25-01, 09:03 PM (EST) 5. "RE: UK trains" Fact:
In the original MSTS, with no 'changes' or 'add-ons' there are;3 drivable US Trains (dash-9, Acela, and Acela hhp)
4 drivable Jap Trains (Kiha140, Kiha31, Series 2000, Series 4000)
1 drivable Austrian Train (Orient Express one)
1 drivable UK Train (Flying Scottsman)I think what trainsimmer is trying to say is that the train line-up in the original MSTS is awefully biased towards Japan and the USA, the homes to the main part of the MSTS design crew (Kuju and Microsoft). I would have thought that they'd have at least put a couple from each in... Unless they're planning for a major High-street add-on for Regional GB Railways (a pack per region, i.e. the 'Central Trains' or 'Virgin Trains' add-on) like they have done with Flight sim, where you pay £20 and expand your simulation boundaries another few 1000 miles.... (if only).Well, I hope that is a case, cause i can't wait to speed through Lincoln Central Station in a new Central Trains machine, accross the level crossing in the centre of town, out past the university and trade parks and out towards newark... would be almost unreal, however that's the whole point of simulation.. do things you wouldn't normally be able to do.. otherwise you'd go out and do them!!!Well i look forward to future products.. and hope that they include some GB stuff.. i mean some gantries on the UK map would be useful, then at least we could play with the Eurostar in it's set country!!!Talk to you later people
Cheers

Jul-26-01, 07:07 AM (EST) 8. "RE: UK trains" Really? Wow.... i thought they were japs, as seen as they've taken a liking to the 'Japanese way of life'. I mean, they've given time to 2 Jap maps and 4 jap trains, but then again, it was probably Microsoft's doing, so they can keep the continent happy, beefing them up with nice jap Microsoft stuff so they'll be more likely to buy an X-Box than a new nitendo....Shame really... wish we had a software company better than Microsoft in UK... then they'd be scared and sell it for the price of normal games... £30!Talk to you later

Jul-26-01, 07:31 AM (EST) 9. "RE: UK trains" Four Japanese trains? I can only think of two, the little diesel unit and the EMU.Anyway, they should've given us an EE class 37. It's a crime to leave that out!
