The General Electric U23B was a medium power road switcher designed for both yard work and mainline freights. Over 450 of these locomotives were built by GE between the late 60's and mid-70s. Railroads that have owned U23Bs include Santa Fe, Missouri Pacific, Conrail, Reading and Northern, Delaware and Hudson, Lehigh Valley, Western Pacific, Providence & Worcester, Missouri-Kansas-Texas, Louisville and Nashville, Southern Railway, Milwaukee Road, Chessie System (C&O), Union Pacific, Monon, Penn Central, Maine Central and others. As these units became older, many class one railroads traded in or sold their U23Bs so it is possible to find many of these locomotives still in operation today on shortline and industrial roads. There are lots of roads that used these locos, but I only skinned a handful! These locos include lots of improvements over my previous models including better polygon smoothing (especially around the nose), more modeled details (such as MU air hoses, uncoupling bars and MU cables) as well as specular lighting. Most of these models are in
the 4600 - 4900 polygon range, so hopefully they will not be too hard on frame-rates. Below are screen grabs of the eight units to be released (plus blank textures), most of which feature details specific to their prototype. Please feel free to reskin these models if you like - my only requirements are in the readme.txt files. By the way, all of these screen grabs were taken on J. H. Sullivan's outstanding CSX Blue Ridge Sub route.Chessie System (C&O) 2309: Features Blomberg trucks and no nose headlights:

Those models are Brilliant - John - i always enjoy visiting your site - i can see your bit of a GE fan? (just a guess there) - the U18B looks the best i think (mainly cos its a GE) - they would look really great in Providence and Worster colours - i have pictures of them in real life if you would like some. The models are better than most, as always - I think you've really raised the bar here.Watching you post a new engine is kinda like dropping bread crumbs on a north Alabama river - all of a sudden there's a ruckus, and they just get gobbled up!
