When I try to couple to my new autoracks, if I back into them at 6 or 7 mph, the cars just bounce off without coupling. If I back into them at 8 mph, they fly off the track. All of the parameters in the .wag files are consistent with those found in other equipment (they're the default autorack physics adjusted for the different size of the new cars). What do I do to make coupling easier?

Patrick is spot on with this one! If you need to adjust the bounding box the easiest way is with the bounding box editor, you'll find it in the file library.Best Regards,

An easy check when in the Sim is to press "CTRL" & "+" (use the plus key on the numeric keypad) You will see a red outline appear around everything in the Sim that has a bounding box. This is a good visual way to determine if there is a problem.

RE: Trouble coupling autoracks

I've had no problems, I was driving two TA SD70s (UP and SP), with twenty autoracks (all different numbers) with 50% being the downloaded ones you uploaded Railfan727. I was on the Bodiddly RR (Ohio Rail) and I met a dead end, I took the two engines, went across a local wye, and backed up into a KCS Articulated AutoRack, I coupled easily at 3 mph.------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Trouble coupling autoracks – image 6

RE: Trouble coupling autoracks

Hi,
I don't have any problem coupling on to them. Maybe your going to fast. I couple on to cars at no more than 3 MPH, over 3 the car or engine derails.Try coupling on at 1-3 MPH.Thanks.

RE: Trouble coupling autoracks

Yeah, I think you're going too fast also, Bruce... I laughed when saw you coupling cars at 8 mph... my average successful speed I'd say would be 3.5 mph...------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Trouble coupling autoracks – image 7

RE: Trouble coupling autoracks

What I meant to say was, that at any speed _below_ 6 or 7 mph, no coupling was possible. I tried coupling at different speeds, starting at 2 mph and working upwards in 1 mph incerements. The cars still weren't coupling at 7 mph, and at 8 they flew off the rails.I fixed the bounding boxes, and now everything's just fine.

RE: Trouble coupling autoracks

Sounds to me like you are trying to couple too fast to begin with. The railroads have a "No More Than Four" suggestion for coupling to prevent damage to cars or contents....in other words, 4 miles an hour or less!!!
