Jul-24-01, 01:59 PM (EST) "EMDRS1325" Ok, I've decided to have a go at making this locomotive. I can't give you much background data, since they didn't seem as popular with railroads as they could have. Here's what I know:These locos are not a HYBRID. At least, the emd production ones weren't. They were a kind of heavy road switcher that followed the lines of the SW 900 class locos. Heavier mp, heavier carbody, and longer length. that short hood contained something (though to be honest, I don't know WHAT) still. The Great Northern owned at least two or three of these locos, using them on the iron ore trains up until Burlington Northern came into being. What happened to the oddballs after that isn't quite known...least to me. They might have survived...but I surmise not.heres pics for y'all to check out.northeast.railfan.net/images/tr_cim31.jpgnortheast.railfan.net/images/tr_cim30.jpg*little side data, yeah, the first few were a hybrid..seems i remember an MR article saying something about them. Scheme wise, I'm hoping to do them in GN colors...but if ya'll want one in BN...then tell me and I might change my mind.* Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>owned at least two or
>three of these locos, No, they didn't. Chicago and Illinois Midland were the only buyers of the RS1325. GN had NW5's, with a rectangular nose, not the GP20 stlye slant nose.

Jul-24-01, 03:04 PM (EST) 3. "RE: EMDRS1325" I stand corrected. I noticed after bouncing around that site that the outlines of that and the GN locos were similiar. (to the untrained eye at least) Whatever the case, I think this would be fun in the least to have...and I do know that the GN ones did at least survive to see BN green. (one of the pics of them shows one sitting infront of two BN green and black locos of some indeterminate type.
