"...remember...this is fiction."New Edition to the PRRR – image 1Here is the one and only PRRR E8 AB in a slightly different PRRR passenger livery service scheme than the F7. Fictionally speaking this is "brand-spanking" new (bought used and repainted fresh) for the PRRR to be used for recreational purposes i.e. dinner trains, mystery trains, tours and ski runs and so on.New Edition to the PRRR – image 2These are newly built common coaches for the PRRR and to be used exclusivly for recreational purposes. There are other passenger cars coming in the future.Note: The passenger coach will be uploaded after I get some fine tuning on the textures.
As for the E8...I'll need to get the authors "blessing" first.Kip

RE: New Edition to the PRRR

Hi'ya Tim,These coaches were made (modeled) and textured entirely by me. So using the texture templates of my own were a slight challenge to say the least. Basically, texturing by scratch is tough work, especially from the ground up...literlly.I use PS6 and alot of layers. I use a basic color and go from there and add highlights and shadow here and there as best I can or know how anyway. This coach took me 2 days to get the model where I wanted it and another day of texturing. I use other units as reference to help set up my texture to at least make it "real" enough. This one I finished is not perfect, I need more texturing exercises to better aquaint "realism". The roof is to "liney" and it wavers badly in the sim. The bodies are too "bulky" and not the right texture color. The door on the side was a "quick" add-on, and was done poorly. But...I am getting really good with TSM and adjusting bounding-boxes and inertia tensors.Anyway...the neat thing is is that the coach is 100% mine. That's pretty cool when you think back 6 months ago and didn't even know MSTS existed. Kip

RE: New Edition to the PRRR

The PRRR has no route. All these pics are from the Marias Pass Route. Though the PRRR needs a route; I am waiting to contact a fellow who is making a route in the general area of the PRRR's operation in Northern Idaho and eastern Washington state. My route making abilities are very poor and I really need to get that Rich Garber tutorial. I have tinkered with it a little and made a 5 mile route that actually worked, but there's so much to learn to actually make it.Kip

RE: New Edition to the PRRR

Hey now, I'm still workin' on it! I'll probably run the POVA ( Pend O'rielle Valley) up to Priest River. (I've got to do a lot of it just for scenery). The old Spokane International runs right across the Pend O'rielle River from the the old GN for quite a ways.Jeff

RE: New Edition to the PRRR

Well...I'm drooling. I really need to set up a map of the area the PRRR runs on. The PRRR's "route would run right by Priest River along the Pend O'rielle (pronounced "Pon dah Ray) river to Sandpoint and slightly northwest near Swietzer Basin Ski area. The PRRR also runs south to Kennewick Wa. and as far east as Wallace Idaho. Please keep me (ok..us) informed on the progress of the route. I promise not to bug you every week..("how's the route coming along" or "do you have a date when it will be done?"). I won't do that...promise. Kip

Well I think you have done a great job and my hat is off to you for being able to just do it........I think they are fine and will be looking forward to them.......Hope you allow me to use them for my own version when they come out........If I could ever get enough money ahead (good luck there) I might get that program and try it myself.......From what I understand it is a little easier to understand and use than some of the others..........oh well, someday......
Keep up the good work........expect to see an engine from you one of these days........lol!TimNew Edition to the PRRR – image 11

RE: completed paint job....

Here is the same coach with the newer PRRR livery paint job. I also "tweaked" some of the textures. I am modeling 2 other cars right now. Trying to make a dome car. Oh joy!

RE: completed paint job....

The PRRR passenger set has been uploaded. There are 4 cars: coach, sleeper, diner and baggage. Should be in the D/L list soon. Also, look for the PRRR E8 AB set soon also.Kip
