BTW, here's your attachment that didn't show up. I like it. The front was jacketed for excursion service in Birmingham. But during its revenue service life, it was unjacketed.I just make the models. You'd better ask Engineer Kyle, our Master Texturer, if you want two versions.

Hi, welcome to the train-sim discussion forums! First off, your question is not a stupid one, it is very valid. I will answer your question, and if I am not correct, Mike could answer better than I. (Mike is the creator of this wonderful machine!)There will be two versions of this locomotive. The one that has been seen here on the train-sim forums is a slightly weathered version that has an un-sheathed smokebox. (This explains the two different boiler colors.) There will be another version which will be less weathered and appear better taken care of. It will be more black and the boiler will be sheathed, or in other words will be all one color like the pictures you have seen on the web. Both locomotives will carry the number 1218.
I hope I have answered your question for you.Below is a picture of what 1218 is being made to look like currently. (The two tone boiler)

Below is an early production shot of what the other boiler would look like except maybe even more black and shiny than in this photo.

One last thing, the textures on the engine here are very early, they have improved a long way since these were taken. I think these just happened to be handy. I did a very basic test import into the simulator earlier today, and it worked. Just have to get the hierarchies straightened out, and it'll be in there for good.
