RE: Gmax-Problems

Hi,did you map the appropriate ACE-file in Gmax rather than a TGA or BMP as in 3D Studio Max?GMax allows loading BMP and TGA to be loaded and mapped but they won't work with MSTS.did you give the model a distance value in the LOD-manager?GreetingsVolker

Wow, now that is what i've been waiting for.Train911, I have been using gmax for quite a while and managed to export a few models into trainsim. If you send me the model, I will try to load it into trainsim for you.It could be a number of things causing the problem.

Yes the problem is very familiar.I got that uid:200000 error in trainsim if the model was over 18000 polygons, anything voer 13000 polygons crashed trainsim. If you need any help and have a messenger program, feel fre to contact me over there. I am not the grand master at it but have come a long way with it.msn messenger : speart_2000@hotmail.com

RE: Gmax-Problems

Hi,how to use the LOD-manager is described in my gmax tutorial
which is available in english now athttp://www.vmbollig.de/msts/index.htmThe max count of polygones in a model is discussed in german forums also. In my opinion, it is more important to take care of the number of faces rather than polys because GMax counts (and displays) the number of faces, not polygones.
A polygone may have more or less faces. Therefore the number of polys doesn't say much about the number of faces MSTS (and the video card) has to render.
greetingsVolker

RE: Gmax-Problems

Hi Train911,Nice lookin' engine there. Very sharp and clean textures. When you get it working, post in on Train-Sim and I'll race you in my Aso Boy 8620! (I'm editing the .ENG file now.)Seriously, folks, this could be another one of those milestone projects. Judging from past threads, it seems as there are a lot of Shinkansen fans out there.Rick Vernon
