B&0 EM-1 Yellowstone revisited – image 1

A while back I remember somebody was trying to find information on these giants. Over the weekend I bought a copy of the Locomotive Encyclopedia vol.1 published by Hundman publishing (Mainline Modeler, CTC Board). Not only does it have the EM-1 but the drawings are of a supurb quality, much better than those found in the kalmbach book, with left and right sides shown for all locos. Of great interest to me were the drawings of the WP 2-8-8-2s, the SP 4-10-2s, the early "flat faced" cab forwards, and all classes of SP northerns.

RE: B&0 EM-1 Yellowstone revisited

Is there any information and blue-prints for SP's AM-2 4-6-6-2 CabFordward and the SP Class 120-SC-3 Semicylindrical Tender with Bethlehem boster trucks that the MA-2 used, in the Locomotive Encyclopedia? The only information I have on these are CAB-FORWARD by Robert J. Church.I am planing on trying my hand at building one this winter when I have time, If I can gather enought tech. data, plans and photos. Thanks:Happy and Safe Railroading to ya.

RE: B&0 EM-1 Yellowstone revisited

If you run across photo of the cab interior of the AM-2 CabForward or other early Cab-Forward like MC class, MM class or early AC-1, 2 or 3 class, please let me know. I don't know of any nor did Robert Church. If all else fails and I do build the AM-2 I live only 80 miles north of Sacramento and will plan a trip to the Railroad Mues. and take pictures of the interior of the cab of 4294 and use it for the basis for the AM-2's cab.Right now I am only in the planning stange. Just starting to gather data, and deciding what programs to use. Plan to use IMSI Turbo CAD 8 Professional, and some other program like Abacus TSM. However Abacus TSM is not compatable with anything. Turbo CAD save in many formats including DXF, DWG, TCW, 3DS, etc. as well as several bit maps formats. I need a program like Abacus that I can port my model back and forth between and do a final save to MSTS.Appreciate any help.Safe and happy railroading to ya.

Where exactly do you live? I live in Sacramento itself so I'm allways down at the museum's library and bookstore (where I bought the book). Why don't you try 3d canvas, I have had a lot of good luck building steamers with it. If you send me a message at c_bonelli@hotmail.com I'll go ahead and send you my latest progress on a SP class S-12 0-6-0. As you probably well know the AC-1, 2, and 3 classes were locomotives that were rebuilt into cab forwards from the Mallet Consolidation (MC) class locos.
