RE: Man... that was a nice trip !!! ( 7pics)

those are really good jens. a suggestion on colors of your UP equipment though. here is a pic of cars i reskinned in UP colors. they are colors from an actual car. they will make the cars look much more realistic. here's the pic(of the car an screen of the tga)the grey and yellow were not distorted in the screenshot.

hope this helps (in my opinion the yellow is too intense for UP)

Hi JC..
I'll send you some modified 3985 files soon. <G> I'm running one up in passenger two-tone grey (3976) (can you add smoke wings for this one, like the FEF-3?), and black (like your original) with weathering for freight. The new whistle sounds are made from 3985 recordings and work well, as do the other new sounds - mechanical stoker instead of the "FS-shoveler"), cross compound compressor, injector and safety popoffs (all recorded live). I've added some steam effects and firebox flicker as well..I think I could get you a scan of a colour chip of UP yellow as well..let me know...Cheers

Hac, I got the 844 sounds covered. As soon as I get a E-mail I will send the recordings over to NALW! Also the 844/8444 ran in four schemes. 844 gray, 844 black, 8444 gray, and 8444 black. JC, sweet job on the cars. Can't wait to put it in front of the 844 and 3985 on excursions.Just for EVERYONE to know those smoke wings were called Elephant Ears by railroaders.New LOGO in progress!

RE: Man... that was a nice trip !!! ( 7pics)

The real 3977 has recently been repainted in two-tone gray complete with the "elephant ears". She is the only one of the two surviving Challengers to have worn that scheme in service, but for many years she was painted black on display. In fact I believe that's her oil bunker in 3985's tender now (3985 was always a coal-burner in service and also in the first few years after she was restored). I've seen a shot of the 3977 since the repaint but for the life of me I can't remember what site it was on. I have one of her that I took in '95 but she was still painted black then. She's on display in Cody Park in North Platte, Nebraska.

RE: Man... that was a nice trip !!! ( 7pics)

Jens Chris, I had an idea for the passenger view. You could use the interior for the dome car in the VIA Passenger Cars repainted to the Amtrak colors. The dome cars in that set look like they are the same type as the ones that you have modeled for your set. The seats have a brown leather interior to them and would probably work well for one of your Union Pacific dome cars that you have. All you would have to do is copy the files for the passenger view files and put the appropriate link to it in the file for your dome passenger car. There is nothing in the interior to distinguish it as Union Pacific, Amtrak, or any other company so it would work pretty well. Plus being a dome it would give you an excellent view of the country side as it goes by out the window. You may have to get Train Artisan's permission since Gaetan Baelenger who I believe is part of their team did the original. But since there are other repaints of the cars here on www.train-sim.com I doubt it would be a problem. Anyway, I hope that this suggestion is helpful and that it might allow you to get the passenger view that you are looking for. Keep up the good work, those look great so far, your work is amazing and I look forward to running them when they are finished. George.

Hiya Kelley..
Well, we didn't really combine rosters, but what we have got are run-through agreements, and power sharing agreements. The two networks are a good fit, in terms of service handoffs. Don't expect a merger, but rather a "strategic alliance" ..
That's about all I can say publicly...cheers
