A question from MS TrainStop:I have a transparency problem with my new project, see the picture: DCForum Discussion Forum - Transparency Problem – image 1

The station roof also has an alpha layer. Now you can see trough the outside part of the wagon. (see the one left side of the picture)

This wagon model is made with 3D Canvas and de outside have the trans settings of 2 and the inner side 0 .The other model the MW/AR41 I have made with TSM does not have this problem. Its the alpha setting..Can I fix this in the S.file ???

Can anyone help MS TrainStop?
(The same happens in Protrain 2 at the Leipzig Hbf station, with many wagons)André

Just look in the section on materials for MSTS.... The roof of your station needs to be set transparent not translucent. Sorry to break this news to you but you just can't have what you want to do there.Best Regards,

You can call it a "security" feature - X-Ray Platform Roofs™ to spot trouble on the trains. - AndrewDCForum Discussion Forum - Transparency Problem – image 5 PATCO Hi-Speed Line

>Now I have made a new
>screenhot with 4 different models.. It's difficult to answer this question without knowing exactly how the models have been built and what material mapping has been used on them. It has something to do with ordering of the mapping in the .s file and to do with the fact that as I said, the MSTS game engine doesn't allow multiple layers of translucency. Have the windows on the tsm models been mapped separately to the body sides?? If they have then that would work. That is of course the other way to solve the problem. Just apply translucency Only to the faces that have the windows. But that doesn't mean that everybody will or has built their models that way. Sorry I can't be more help on this one, I don't yet have a full answer to the problem but I am working on it.Best Regards,

RE: Transparency Problem

HiI've already noticed this problemI came to the conclusion this is due to sub-object sorting
My loco, made under 3ds Max, had this issue
I converted it with gMax and the issue was solved
Even with the same mapping, same materials, same textures...You can see the Japanese KUJU's serie 7000 have also the
"David Copperfield" syndrome whereas other KUJU's train are soundDCForum Discussion Forum - Transparency Problem – image 7

RE: Transparency Problem

Why not sell this to the government as a security device, what a great idea to search luggage, trucks, vehicles, airplanes, etc.Rob
