"RE: RESPECT" >they are too busy with discussing if they should take money for their modelsCool, a little advertizing never hurt - even from a troll. ;o)Cyrus - that locomotive's gonna' go down as one of the true classics for MSTS - E-gads, some of those screens are drop-dead gorgeous!Cheers!

>train911 Calling the folks at 3dtrains "idiots" simply because they plan some shareware/purchaseware is a little unfortunate. While I frankly oppose anything contrary to the freeware concept, I don't think calling them idiots gains you any RESPECT either. And their models I've seen so far tend to place them well into the artist or better category in my book....they're well done. You'll have a choice as to whether to purchase them or not. In the meantime, let's not resort to name-calling...it serves no purpose here on the forums. Even if they do charge a nominal fee..(I hope it's on the $5 price range), I think they're furthering our knowledge of a very young sim...that's good for all of us.
RESPECTFULLY,
bill otten

Jul-17-01, 06:41 PM (EST) 5. "RE: RESPECT" I'm beta testing for the F7, (Good Job on it by the way Marc) and hopefully the Geeps, and i know from experience that IT DOES look like the real engine. You're just talking out of your bottom side, it's quite obvious you have no clue what you're talking about.

Jul-17-01, 06:47 PM (EST) 6. "RE: RESPECT" Thanks guys. However, let's remember this is Cyrus' thread, and as such we should be focusing on his outstanding Hudson. Me, I'm going to see about trying out that 'old-style' photo effect in the screen shot above! Cheers!

Jul-17-01, 08:36 PM (EST) 7. "RE: RESPECT" Thanks Marc!I enjoy the input that I've gotten from the community, however, let's keep it positive, please. Up until now, the mood of all my threads has been positive - I've felt really great about being part of this community. I'd like to keep feeling that way. Let's all build this community together - support each other. There is enough room for everybody. I mainly do the models and the website because I want to help build the community (I give people models so that they can explore the potential of MSTS - I write-up tutorials and info on a website so that all hobbists can participate and contribute as well). This is a hobby and it should be fun. It is something that can allow us to connect with one another because we share a common interest. We are a young community, let's also be a strong community.Cyrus Lum

Jul-17-01, 09:32 PM (EST) 8. "RE: RESPECT " Dave is right, the F's are a really nice piece of work and do look like the real thing..(another beta tester reporting in..)
Personally, while I agree that freeware is really nice, I have no problems supporting shareware that provides reasonable content and quality at a fair and reasonable price.. cheers

Jul-17-01, 11:01 PM (EST) 9. "RE: RESPECT " Bummer! Looks like I was the only one standing up for Marc's work who WASN'T a beta tester. Man, I wanna get on the next test train!!Honestly, I was just commenting in order to regain some civility with the unfortunate comment prior, and as a designer for Flight Sim (Real Florida Scenery Vols 1 and 2) I'll stick up for anyone devoting selfless hours toward the hobby...yeah, even if it winds up being payware. bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-17-01, 11:21 PM (EST) 10. "RE: RESPECT " No worries, Bill. There will be a freeware version of the F7 for folks to play with. I'll bet it'll look cool in a yard along side the Hudson. Cheers!
