May-02-02, 12:17 PM (EDT) 1. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Hi Brian, Just a quick thought, I grew up by the Belvidere, Illinois assy. plant. (Chrysler) and seen these all my life. Drop the fishplates(extensitons for the cars to get from one to the other)or just leave one on opposite sides of the car (IE: left on front will be right on rear)Most, if not all Autoracks had lost these by the early 70's due to tremendous breakage.NICE work!!! I for one am a AUTORACK nut!!! Been waiting for these!!Kelley D. Ellison

May-02-02, 01:09 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Done.I personally thought the plates made the car look a little "HO toy train-like". I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought they looked funny.Brian. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-02-02, 01:46 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Well Hallelujah!!!! I've been dying to see these!!!! Are you planning a "loaded" version too? I'm thinking that for a loaded version, you would'nt really have to make the auto's too detailed...just look at the auto's created be the car spawners!PS- I second the motion about dropping the bridge plates, it's just extra poly's and they were pretty quickly removed Longhairedwizard Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-02-02, 04:41 PM (EDT) 6. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Ask an ye shall receive. Here's the same car loaded with '65 Chevy Novas:
The best thing is, each car is only 22 polys.Still gotta trim this thing down. Its at a bloated 5000 polys. I'm probably gonna dump the support ribs since they can't be seen anyhow (and they are about 15% of the polycount).Brian. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-03-02, 12:30 PM (EDT) 14. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Can we get those cars to put to our routes? Maybe you could do some car clumps to fill the parking lots... I did a trailer pack which consists of 10 trailers but is just one object.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-03-02, 12:54 PM (EDT) 15. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" If you wish, I could upload them as separate objects (the Chevy Novas). They're relatively small anyhow.Brian. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-03-02, 02:10 AM (EDT) 11. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Your autorack looks great!! Glad to see the low poly count. If you are looking for another older type of autorack may I suggest this.
Nick

May-03-02, 02:15 PM (EDT) 17. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" This is a guess but I would say that it matches the rock island color you have in your beta test cars. I can help you with the Rio Grande logo if you need it. Thanks for the interest.Nick

May-03-02, 02:24 PM (EDT) 18. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" One thing to note about most autoracks is that the flatcar itself is usually owned by Trailer-train but the actual rack that mount ON TO the Flatcar is owned by the individual railroads. This can result in some interesting color combinations, such as a yellow or tuscan flatcar with a rack in virtually any other color.here are some color shots of bi-levels

May-03-02, 04:43 PM (EDT) 23. "RE: 60s Autoracks Update" Not to be critical but,The side sills should be straight on all these long (flat, autorack, etc) cars. Only the center sill is wider along the length of the car. Richard Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
