Apr-28-02, 03:09 AM (EDT) "UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" I have built models in excess of 6000 polygons in the past with TSM and imported into the game and run them.I have had some models produce this error with just over 5000 pg's and now one that won't play at 3000. Was there a final solution to this error? I've seen most of the threads but none seem to provide a final explanation. Some seem to suggest a heirarchial setup, but I've been there, even joined all parts into one, still no luck. Polygon limits have been suggested but models with larger counts then rule that out! Is it TSM or MSTS with the problem? It is bloody annoying. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sorry, there isn't a real solution...It depends on many things, whether MSTS will accept it or not...You mustn't have...... too much polygons. (there is a model with 22000 polys, so the limit is pretty high)
... too much parts. (the limit could be around 50)
... too much vertices. (don't know the limit)
... too much polygons for a part. (around 1500)
... too much parts linked to another part. (don't know the limit)
... too much polygons in a part linked to another part (e.g. you mustn't have 3 parts with 1000 polys each linked to another part ; don't know the limit)
... and so on...As you can see there are many factor you have to pay attention to...REALLY ANNOYING !!!
...but DON'T LET THE COMPUTER WIN !!!Jens-Chris----------

It varys from model to model and there is no way to predict exactly what will and won't be accepted.>... too much parts. (the limit
>could be around 50) Nope! the K-36 Has 107 parts! no problem as long as they're in the hierarchy correctly and grouped properly.>... too much vertices. (don't know
>the limit)Variable! About the same as poly count!

>... too much polygons for a
>part. (around 1500)Nope! polygons per part can be at least as high as 2500.>... too much polygons in a
>part linked to another part
>(e.g. you mustn't have 3
>parts with 1000 polys each
>linked to another part ;
>don't know the limit) Nope Not correct! parts with 2000 polys can be your main and can have other groups under them with many more polys.>As you can see there are
>many factor you have to
>pay attention to... The real problem with it is that Nobody knows what the limits are because one limit can change from one model to the next. When one factor changes all the others change as well. One that Jens-Chris forgot to mention is Try not to have too many objects directly grouped under main. Sub group them and link objects in those sub-groups. Also try to reduce the number of groups as much as possible by grouping relative components.Best Regards,

>the number of groups as much as possible by grouping
>relative components. Exactly! Every time I have run into this issue, this fixed it for me without having to delete any part or polygon. For instance, you could have a part called cab, whose parent is the "main" object, but then have some of the parts related to the cab (such as horn, lights, interior, antenna, etc) use cab as their parent instead of "main", much the same way "Wheels" uses BogieX as it's parent. Reducing the total number of parts linked to main reduces the complexity of rendering the model in TS, hence removes the dreaded UID: 200000 error.Searching the Loco design forum for 200000 helped me as this has been covered a number of times before.Good luck and can't wait to see the finished model!Highball!John D. Apr-28-02, 09:54 PM (EDT) 6. "RE: UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" Thanks for all your input. I'll organise the parts and 'see' what happens. oooh scary!Basically I 'did' have all parts linked to main.
As it now stands the model comprises of:
11 parts
3991 polygons
3361 verticesNone of these are animated parts. I've added a full interior of seats and this caused the problem. Will post my results as soon as I experiment with some of these ideas. This model and it's associated components will be available as one of the most original add-ons for msts in the not too distant future. It's getting a MAJOR upgrade!!!Thanks again. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-29-02, 01:34 PM (EDT) 8. "RE: UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" I have done the models this way:
Start with small parts, then save several stages of development and when everything is in place, just join all parts except bogies and wheels. I did my loco with 2 body parts, the other has polygon smoothing on and the other does not. Somehow the low-poly versions also worked fine, unlike the trains cars which are simple and are always causing crashes and problems(!).Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-28-02, 07:25 PM (EDT) 4. "RE: UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" Hi Beadyboy,I've had that problem, and after much wailing and sobbing (and help from the good people in the forum), managed to fix it! What I do is have the body of the car as main. Linked to that are about five other parts, each of which has a roughly equal number of subparts. So it might be;Main
Linked to this are,
Roof, Underfloor, Interior, End1, End2, Bogie1, Bogie2Under each of these five are the respective parts such as trolleypoles, headlight, couplers, brake cylinder, handrails, seats etc etc. It seems to work...now!All the best,
Matt A

Apr-28-02, 07:56 PM (EDT) 5. "RE: UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" I just got through dealing with the same problem on the revised PRR H9 (yes I'm still working on it). What I ended up doing was saving every part to the object library and writing down each objects coordinates. Then I deleted everything down to the frame and wheels and then I exported it to MSTS. Once I saw that it worked I went back and and added one or two parts at a time and whenever something didn't work I knew it was going to be either one of two parts I had just put back. In my case it turned out that where the belpaire firebox intersected the cab was not very well liked by MSTS and I ended up having to split it up into two parts. Good luck with getting it fixed. The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-28-02, 11:36 PM (EDT) 7. "RE: UID:200000 error, can't add car to world. Was there a final solution?" Well, several hours later, several parts re assigned but still msts won't come to the party. Guess they'll have to stand in this train! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
