Apr-12-02, 02:55 PM (EST) "Multiple distance views" I have seen discussed before how you can set upa model to have different detail levels at different distances e.g 2000, 1000, 500 metres etc. but I can't remember how it should be done in TSM. Can anyone help please. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-12-02, 03:09 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Multiple distance views" Select Object->properties and set the distance(2000m max)
Then you can add more objects via the object menu.Remember that if you use transparency on the first model, you must use it on all dist.levels. Also use of same textures is a must, you can't use different textures on other objects than the main. Otherwise you get crashes in Route editor and/or in the game.
Use Part->display texture list to see waht textures you used.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Personally, I've never bothered with them, as it's enough of a battle of wits doing one distance model per object, let alone more. Frankly, using one '2000' distance model doesn't seem to have much of an impact on performance, even with a high poly, complex object. I don't use transparencies on my models and that might save a few FPS/performance demerit points I realise not all computer system are created equal, sorry, but them's the breaks.Don't let the computer WIN!
