Apr-10-02, 06:19 PM (EST) "Why do you still download xyz models," when you can have a BeeKay model for the same price? Hi all,
My new Trans Europ Express VT11.5 "Parsifal" will be available in the download area as soon as it is checked by Nels.
It's a complete package of the whole train with all the different wagons.
Seats, kitchen and bar installed as in the prototype. Cabview, three animated ventilators, passenger view linked to the engine room.
Included in the package is an activity, simulating the TEE "Parsifal" on it's way through Belgium from Paris (France) to Hamburg (Germany) in 1962. The activity is installed on the Microsoft/Kuju Settle & Carlisle Route, which has left hand side driving (like in Belgium) and a landscape and houses which I loved so much when I lived for some years in Belgium.
Here is a sceenshot of my new train involved in switching within the activity.Message Areas - "Why do you still download xyz models," – image 1For those of you, who can't wait the two days for the model to show up in this download area, it's available since tonight at www.eurotrainsim.de
You know, Europe is only one mouse-click away from here.
Best regards

Thanks for all your nice comments and encouragements.
When you have earned the hamburger rolls / buns in a bread and butter job, these comments are the very tasty beef slices for the long hours spent in front of a computer at night.
There is of course one risk, you get addicted to the beef slices and whant more and more of it. Means with my next locos, I am striving now for at least a cheese burger, if not a big, double something.
Maybe it ends up as a hot dog with an artificial and shrunk saussage inside. We shall see.
Have a nice weekend to you all
Bernd

Apr-12-02, 04:53 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Why do you still download xyz models - Why not?" Ron,
just visited your website and the project of Nescio Route. Looks pretty good and has a dense athmosphere. Looking forward to download it some day when you are ready.
Most impressed as well that you have a complete history of the TEE "Parsifal" including timetables aso, aso on your website.
If I had known before, I could have just given the information where to find your website, instead of writing a brief history in my readme.
I'll try to do the Gas Turbine 602 and the Danish Lyntog soon.
Both require some changes to the shape.
Totsiens
Bernd

I have just send some info and pics to www.thetrain.de about my Nescio route, I guess the webmaster will put this info under the projects of his homepage, it will be updated regularly...
Looking forward to your next projects !Ron

Apr-12-02, 12:46 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Why do you still download xyz models," BeeKay, thanks (Danka) for another great model! At the risk of offending my fellow American rail buffs, I think the best in railroading today is on the European continent! I look foward to going across the sea and riding the best, cleanest and fastest tains whenever I can! U.S. railtravel is a disgrace, and air travel is not far behind!Rich

I know Mons (or flamish Bergen) very well. I love the little pedestrian zone and its' art museum. If you work for the biggest employer near Mons, maybe we are collegues.
Concerning your question of European feelings, I think Belgium is a very good example of European Integration. It might be different in the rural areas, but Brussels itself is a melting pot. The European Union with its' 15 membernations always present. When being in big or even smallest shops, you will be saluted in two languages (Goeje dag, Bon jour), just to check out in which language you are going to reply. I mean there is always jealousy and friction when one part of the community is feeling superior to others and it requires a strong king or government to keep the two parts (or even three parts, when you look at the German speaking community in Belgium around Eupen, you have three official languages, Dutch, French and German) together, and to create something like solidarity and pride to be a Belgian, not just Flams or Wallon. Well I loved the melting pot, where it really melts.
Concerning your question about beer, Belgian beer is very good and famous, 1000s of varieties, but since I lived in France, I prefer wine. I live at the moment in Bavaria, maybe with this statement I will be a "persona non grata" by tomorrow.Rich:
I hope you will not be disappointed with what you will see, when traveling with European Railroads. Maybe you will appreciate again your home RR afterwards. Not everything looks like the trains in MSTS However enjoy every moment of it. Will it be a journey through several countries?Oh my goodness, we are in the Loco design forum, so I have to make at least one technical statement:
My wagons of the TEE are like onions with several skins and 3D layers (outer sidewall, inner hull and a U-box inside), all texturered with different translucency settings to see trees and houses on the other side of the train through the windows.
I am happy, you are asking.Best regards

"RE: Why do you still download xyz models," LAST EDITED ON Apr-13-02 AT 08:28 AM (EST)Hi Rich,Don't want to disappoint you before you even leave the US of A, but don't set your hopes too high on the railways when you are going to the Netherlands. The Dutch Railways are a mess nowadays ( since it has been turned into a private company some years back ).
The trains are crowded and almost never run on time or not run at all. Strikes are common here and you won't find any Dutch person who is positive about the NS ( Nederlandse Spoorwegen ).
But...the rest of Europe is a nice place to travel by train !
Especially Germany and France...Ron

Hi Ron, Since retiring I try to get over to Europe once or twice a year. Last November I had the great pleasure riding the "FS" in Italy. The Italians, I know don't think too highly of FS but I was more than pleased. Also rode Swiss Rail (High marks) and the DB, (always a great ride!) Turkish Railways are suprisingly clean and on time, as is Spain's lines and of course the French is almost perfection.
Have not been into Holland or Belgium of late, may get there this year. Here at home (Florida) I have used Amtrak many times, found the passenger service people very rude to down right nasty, the trains never on time and the food worse than airline cusine. Rich

Hey, hey, speak only for yourself young man!
I'm an employee of NS Reizigers (The Dutch Railroad Company) for almost 30 years. I'm positive about my company, I am proud of my company.
The Dutch Railroad Company is still doing a great job on one of the most used (utilized) railroad systems of the world.
The company is one of the most modern in signalling and rolling stock.
The last strike was about a year ago, so I don't know how you can say that strikes are common.
And about running late, the punctuality is above 80% now, so most of the trains are running on schedule now.
Due to all problems in the last years, the company have had a rough time, but things are going better now.Sorry, I cannot translate this part, I'm real pissed about this Ron and his statements about the NS, so here a piece in Dutch

"RE: Why do you still download xyz models," Hi Dick,Gotta jump in here and agree with you, l know several Dutch guys and no matter what company they work for there fiercely proud to the point of obssesion, great guys to work with and always polite. People must also remember that revenue for NS or SNCB is not from passengers but freight, however that balance is leveling out with new stock and services in NS and SNCB. The arterial route between Rotterdam, Antwerpen, Aachen, Lille handle more freight in one day the the whole of the UK in one week, go visit Anterpen Damm on a week day, nose to tail block freight at 3 min timings, average speed is only 15 KPH, anything that moves is used to shift freight, Drop down to Metz, Lille, Mons or move across to Aachen all massive freight centers, dont knock the European services, most are multi national and even short runs are mulit lingual. Look around your office next time at all the people and imagine them talking to a different national !, some will be nice some not, its one world and in one corner of every location will be assholes dont tar all with the same brush !.Michael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
