Apr-08-02, 12:02 PM (EST) "New locomotive in progress" Hi all,This is what I'm doing; the model is still inside Max, I have to optimise details and there are still some hidden polys to get rid of, then to finish the textures (another learning curve...) and to prepare the LODS. I wish I could have 48 hours days and less polys.
I'm rather satisfied so far, (and the rods are quartered)
(If she'll work as I hope, I'll be the happiest trainsimmer on earth.)I wish to thank who provided the invaluable tutorials; Train Artisan, Chris Longhurst, the 3DC guys (I learned much even if I use another program), and all the friends in this Forum whose posts I avidly read. This is indeed the right place, thank you all. Some data:Italian electric locomotive, Gruppo E 554
Lenght over buffers: 10.88 m
Power: 2000 KW, 178 Amps. She was powered by two AC three-phases engines at 3600 V, 16.7 Hz
Two characteristic speeds, 25 and 50 Km/h
Tractive effort: 14,000 Kg (14 metric tons) at 50 Km/h
Mass: 76 metric tons.I have a couple of question, as I'm approaching the end:First, three phases motors act as a dynamic brake as speed increases over the characteristic one, e.g. when going downhill; how could I achieve the effect in the .eng file? (Just to see if the engine will give me back some RAM or FPS instead of current...)And another one: the lines where these engines lived featured TWO overhead wires, see the trolleys; (Imagine what happened above a double slip). I guess this is a stoooooopid question, but does anyone know a way to display the dual wires in the sim? I messed about and obviously I could change the height, but nothing else, and I also searched the forum to no avail.
