Apr-07-02, 09:37 AM (EST) "SP Cab Forward news" After a long while, I finally had good time to continue on this project... only to come across strange MSTS limitations again. I know there is a limit to the maximum poly count, and the solution was supposed to be to divide the locomotive to parts that are linked to the Main object. Well guess what, there is some kind of limit to that too. I spent a whole day trying to find what is wrong. It seems that I just have too many polys on the locomotive, or too many parts if there is a limit to that too. But fear not, I found a solution... since the loco consists of multiple units, I simply put some of the parts on the other units. I've got three units that turn the same amount in curves, so I should have enough room to divide all the part among them, if I hit the limit again.Another problem is the transparencies. I haven't been able to make partially transparent windows yet... I have to look into it a bit better.I'll post some screenshots when I get the window thing solved. Apr-07-02, 05:41 PM (EST) 1. "Screenshots" Here are the screenshots promised. As a small detail, you can see the upper portion of the front window opened. The windows can be opened or closed by changing the texture file, thus enabling multiple versions, for summer and winter uses. Also note the new driving wheels, with the 3D counterbalance weights.
And an another pic just to show how cool the locomotive looks when running at speed.
I still have to add some details to the interior, add a lot of tubes, and redo the valve gear. Not to mention texturing. And sounds. And the custom cab. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

It's also posible that it's a Heierarchy issue in general, It depends which software you're using, how you solve the limitations. But the results are looking good my friend! very good indeed! Glad to see you back on track with it (pun intended) Best Regards,
