Mar-27-02, 07:23 AM (EST) "Future Cab options" Not that I am saying that NALW will be making a New Haven FL9 or anything but
it seems to me that the consensus of opinions on the Cab Forum
is for dirty windows, night cabs and (my favourite) rainy days.
Given a bit more time they should come up to scratch. These tests were using a borrowed cvf file.
The above shots are taken from actual screendumps. Here is the Night-cab proper:

You guys aren't suggesting that NALW will be making a NH FL9, are you?
Nah, I didn't think so; especially since your Genesis will be 3rd rail capable...

BTW, the dirty/rain/snow cab is Terrific! I also found this link JUST IN CASE you'd like to check out some FL9 photos:

Mar-27-02, 02:50 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Future Cab options" Us a FL9?????? in Amtrak PHIII or Metro North or ConnDOT on NYC lightning stripe??????Considering Phil Moberg and I grew up up there, Mike lives up there, Matt Donnelly (In upstate NY) literally foams everytime he sees one and Buzz will be buzy building the AEM7 while J-C blueprints an E60 set for us.... While Tim and HAC look for lights and paint jobs.....are you crazy?LOL!

Mar-27-02, 04:06 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Future Cab options" LAST EDITED ON Mar-27-02 AT 04:25 PM (EST)Hi Chuck,Thank you for setting the record straight! As a Long Islander who's seen my fair share of and ridden behind a few FL9's, I can see why they would be a low priority item even if they're very familiar and held in great esteem by you guys. And especially with all the other projects you have on your plate. Heck, old F7/9 lookalike clunkers with stretched chassis and funky 2-axle/3-axle trucks ('bogies' to the Kuju gang; I'd prefer a 'hoagie' with extra hot sauce for 'adheAsion'). These old beasts are still around plying the rails and getting more than just a few commuters home after 40+ years of service. They're at their life's end after as many as 5 different owners have beaten the (fill in descriptive expletive) out of them. Who'd be interested in those FL9 chug-a-lugs?
And as far as GM getting the gauges from Pontiac, I don't think so. My ladyfriend's 1994 Firebird with glowy-red gauges doesn't have that 0 to 1500 amperes dc gauge. And I doubt those PSI gauges are gonna tell her when she has a flat tire or her brake fluid is low...
(I'd say something else, but I won't go there!)
Aside,
Nice Genesis, the whole package: cab, bodywork details, sounds! But I'm really waiting for Pack 3 with the New Haven 228, a Genesis whose paint job almost enhances the gawky bodywork.Oh well... Guess I'll be waiting a long time for an FL9... Best to you NALW guys, and thanx for ALL your efforts!John Roth

Mar-29-02, 01:07 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Future Cab options" Nice!! Lookin' good.
Well, since that MetroNorth variant is about 95% of the way along, perhaps LIRR #300 could be added to the mix?
