Mar-26-02, 03:40 PM (EST) "Mini update." Just to let you know ChrisTrains is still alive and well. A screenshot of the latest superscale creation coming along. It's an update / rebuild of the NS Koploper (remember chaps : NS=Nederlands Spoorwegen in this case, not Norfolk/Southern )The original had low-res textures and was missing a lot of detail in the bogies and undersides. This one solves all those issues, is nicely smooth shaded, has transparent windows and modelled interiors like the NS Buffel.Probably another couple of weeks or so to release - I've got the main engine unit done. I now need to do 3 variants of it (with and without pantographs, with the nose open and closed) for the various positions that it can appear in a trainset. Plus I need to do the passenger carriage.

The nose doors are used when they couple two or more trainsets together. The trainsets can be ICM-3 or ICM-4 configuration. That's an engine either end with either one or two passenger carriages making up trainsets that are 3 or 4 cars long.
To couple two or more of these together, they open the nose on the engine and hook them nose-to-nose. The passengers can then walk the length of the train.Image from mercurio european picture server :

I had wondered about it from the first time I saw them but had figured that it was just some sort of "modernistic" styling issue. Thanks for the information and I'm looking forward to the updated version.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

It's a big improvement over the earlier one. That roof detail and pantograph looks really good too. Best Regards,
