Mar-22-02, 12:25 PM (EST) "Goat watching" Just an update on railpower's green goat. This is a first attempt at modeling a diesel built from scratch using TSM. Here are a couple photos with minimal textures. Lots of detail work yet to do.Message Areas - "Goat watching" – image 1 Message Areas - "Goat watching" – image 2 Dave Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-22-02, 12:40 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Goat watching" that doesn't look half baaaaadd,
I think the little goat on the side is what makes it..
you should contact the makers (railpower tech -I think) and offer it to them as a low cost simulator...
good work
Matt

Mar-24-02, 03:29 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Goat watching" Thanks Erik, All that detail can only help. I saw your previous shots, I'm just a little behind incorporating all the detail. Like the engineer's hat on the goat, grab rails, all sorts of little things. Here's a new progress shot.

didn't know if you had seen them that is why I included the link. I am glad someone could put the pictures to use, I am still trying to figure out what to do with all of the pictures I have taken during the last 8 months.
The Goat is looking Great, keep up the good work. I saw it moving around the other day, but my camera's batteries were dead. I couldn't hear if it sounded any different or not though."KEEP ON TRUCKIN BY TRAIN"Erik Pierson

Sound (Goatgreeneng.sms)
Sound (Goatgreencab.sms)Should Read
Sound ("Goatgreeneng.sms")
Sound ("Goatgreencab.sms")You left out the quotes..Also on the point of Sound I went to the railpower website they have a small movie with a drive by of the goatA Few things learned from the movie...
1) The goat made a mostly electrical sound "Acela" type not so much like a Diesel. I aliased the acela sound and it would need to be edited to be able to work with the Gp38 Cab.. but it did sound pretty close.. 2) The Goat was running with it's long hood forward, cab closest to the consist.. So anyone wanting to design a cab, it would be looking down it's long (Low) nose forward.Oh it looks like the default cab of the Gp38 does have the right size windows for one locomotive (this one)...HaHave you any shots of the interior..?I'm always looking for unusual locos this one fits the bill nicely.. Did you see the article in trains magazine on the new switcher GM is or was supposed to come out with it's kinda simular to the goat (runs on batteries as well or maybe the fuel cell -- Balard Fuel (takes hydrogen and makes hydro and water with it water being a waste product.. The article was a few months back I think in Nov or Dec 2001..Anyway great Goat...Ronson
