Mar-22-02, 03:51 AM (EST) "44 Tonner Update...." LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-02 AT 04:00 AM (EST)Hi Everybody!I have made some progress over the last fwe days (in between midterms). I have rounded the hood corners, fixed the trucks, added headlights, and I am currently working on the rotating beacon (this has to be the most fiddly thing ever!). This is what I have come up with, I will have the textures 'painted' and mapped to the train by tomorrow night....Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 1

The 6th down from the top is going to be another version that comes with the other one as one set.It runs very nicely in the game, I can have a consist of 4 of them, raining, I can get around 9 fps, this is about the same as running 2 steamers for me. Mind you my computer isn't really the fastest in the land, compaired to all you others (kinda like compairing a Kenworth W900 to a Chev pick up - big and slow), I usually average about 4-6 fps with a full train + 2 Dash 9's Take care,Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 3 Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 4

Mar-22-02, 01:42 PM (EST) 3. "RE: 44 Tonner Update...." What sounds will you use? I tried GP38 and Kiha31 for the 45 tonner and Kiha sounded better. I also tried to make my own sounds from sound of Ford tractor but that didn't work at all. It sounded more like drilling machine and the file changes were too evident(6 sound files for different rpm).Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-22-02, 06:41 PM (EST) 5. "RE: 44 Tonner Update...." Here's another eager fan awaiting this one. The short line I worked for relied on one of these when nothing else would run. I have very fond memories of GE's little beast. Would you consider doing the US Army's low cab version as well? -Phil Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-22-02, 08:12 PM (EST) 7. "RE: 44 Tonner Update...." Hi,I really have no Idea what I will use for the sounds, maybe I could make my own by making a recording of a front end loader? If that doesn't work, I will use the Kiha31 sounds... It wil be difficult for me to create sounds or pick the best ones, I have never seen a real 44 tonner Do you have any photos of the loco that the shortline you mentioned ran? I would love to see them! I can create a low profile version as well...Take care,Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 6 Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 7

Mar-22-02, 07:12 PM (EST) 6. "RE: 44 Tonner Update...." Very nice, she'll be a great model. Some GE 44 tonner are living in Italy, too. They are used as shunters inside steel mills facilities by Italian steel manufacturer "Italsider". I saw such locos pulling special cars (called in Italian "torpedo cars", but I don't know what maybe the correct English term for them) full of molten iron. They are not alone, other American locomotives were left in Italy by the allied armed forces at the end of WW2.I found a photo of an HO model, but unfortunately I'm no longer able to recall which site it comes from.Message Areas - "44 Tonner Update...." – image 8Give a glance also at this: http://www.trains-trams-trolleys.com/equipment/locomotive/2015/ ...they say "needs paint... well, it's not so easy to be repainted, but what a nice weatherization... I agree with Enocell about the sounds.Go on, I'll surely download her.Andrea "Dria" Obinu

Mar-24-02, 01:52 AM (EST) 8. "RE: 44 Tonner Update...." Well I tried today to play with the train, no modifications since the last time I ran the loco. When I started up the game, the game freezes at the establishing world content screen, the little yellow blocks have about 1.5 inches to go until the game starts. What could be the problem?
