Mar-18-02, 01:55 PM (EST) "Great Ceaser's Green Ghost" I saw an article last week about a hybrid diesel/electric switcher called the Green Ghost. I went to Railpower's web site and found quite a bit of information on the ghost. I enjoy trying to make the oddball stuff. This didn't really look odd, but I liked the paint scheme. It seemed easy enough--wrong! By the time I got through the first time in TSM I had 34 parts and no rails. Whenever I tried to add a rail the nefarious UID 200000 showed up. Deleting polys didn't seem to help as much as combining parts. Now with rails, I down to around 25 parts. I think this is still too much as TSM is having trouble with the animation. Everytime I enable animation, and try to compile the model, It says my part has no parent--It does this for all parts. I believe, but don't know, if animation affects the parts or poly counts. All I want to animate is the bogies and wheels. Well anyway, this is what it looks like. I've tried texturing individual pieces, but have a long way to go before I'm ready to skin it--so I reverted it back to the blank textures to show it.
Sorry about the quality of the pics--I had compression turned up too high!Dave Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

It says so right on the cab and even has the goat logo on the side. Thanks for setting me straight. I just hate it when I say something stupid!!!!!!! My apologies to Railpower. But it does give me an idea for a possible fictitious BN switcher. Dave Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I'm working on a german steam loco (with TSM 1.1).
The loco has about 7900 polygons and 37 parts which are linked to the main mesh in a tree structure. The animation of all rods functions without problems.
It is not easy to find out what is the real limit of polygons or separate meshes.Your problem with animation of the bogies and the wheels may be that the bogies and wheels are "auto-animated" by MSTS.If you use the train-sim names bogie1,bogie2,Wheels11,Wheels12 etc. than you do not need to setup your own animation.I hope this helps.
Tony
