Mar-11-02, 07:51 PM (EST) "question to captiandon guy" ...that UP coach & loco set posted in "TA pics" thread, would you let us know what the good story on it would be? I mean, you did half of good job so far: you did the set, now the other half is left to do: delivering it to good people. Am I right or not? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-12-02, 03:39 PM (EST) 1. "RE: question to captiandon guy" Sorry Man I am not the one who did that Coach Set You can find it in the Downloads section here at train sim it is the Repaint of the F-7 ese
Do a search for the Name up-ese.zip and you shall have it for yourselves make a back up of the orignal ese so you dont over write it and switch back and forth like I have to between the two when you want to run them.
I know how popular it is cause I am a big Union Pacific Fan...
anything with the Union Pacific Name on it will be in my Collection. Don Pottorff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-12-02, 07:21 PM (EST) 6. "RE: question to captiandon guy" I pulled a 16 car passenger train from one end of Marias pass to the other with it. when I first started running this engine when I got it I thougth something was wrong with it as well but I soon found out that there were two brakes set instead of just the train brake it had the loco brake set to max.
on a flat level place like centeral Illinois I was able to pull a 30 car Coal train fully loaded with it.
the trick is to watch your Boiler Pressure and try to keep it at the max... when the fireman starts to fill the Boiler back off on the Johnson bar all the way till he is done then put the power back on.
the only times I have to stop is when I get to the next station with this one
Dont try to max out your speed just run it at a good pace and you wont have any problems with itDon Pottorff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-12-02, 08:26 PM (EST) 7. "RE: question to captiandon guy" ok I took out the loco related files, renamed the folder and all the files to <<ese_up...(whatever the car's name)>>, there are 2 files that should not be renamed: eseobspass.s and eseobspass.sd, those should be left as is, and the result was this...

"RE: question to captiandon guy" LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-02 AT 06:23 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-02 AT 06:21 PM (EST)but I thought that if you renamed the folder or files, the cars wont load right. I cant get my Illinois Central to load right because my comp cant load some of the custom objects. What do I do? And is the turbine tender supposed to represent a water tender? Mar-13-02, 08:09 PM (EST) 9. "RE: question to captiandon guy" Uh Dont know about the renaming thing I have the same problem. as far as the Tender repesenting a Water Tender yes that is all it was just depended on what you put into it.
I will use it that way till a Water tender is made for that reason
besides that tender was made for looks I thought and it dont carry any fuel or water as far as I KnowDon Pottorff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-13-02, 08:50 PM (EST) 11. "RE: question to captiandon guy" BTW, since you're into UP, what engines were they using to pull passenger cars after the 1960's? would it make sense to hook the set to the pair of good GP9s?same goes for other carriers Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-13-02, 10:50 PM (EST) 12. "RE: question to captiandon guy" For one I dont base my Steam Consists in the 1960's I base them from 1910 to 1950. 2 the GP9 is so damn Ugly that I only religate it to Bringing the Coal trains up from the Coal Mine in the PO&N. and 3 if I put Diesel engines On it I would not run it as much as I am not a true Rail fan... I am only a Steam Fan.
90% of the trains that I run in the game are headed by a Steam Locomotive. Hope that answers your questions about why I have a Steam engine at the head of most of my TrainsDon Pottorff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-14-02, 07:28 AM (EST) 13. "RE: question to captiandon guy" For the UP, E8/9 up to the end as well as F units. The E units were ran on their "City of.." Trains. Other roads did indeed use GP7s and GP9s for passenger service but I am not aware of UP doing that.MKT1972

Mar-14-02, 01:35 PM (EST) 14. "RE: question to captiandon guy" also I am not aware of UP using any Streamlined Steam Engines as well I think UP just used some of the Same Locomotives that would have seen pulling there Freight Trains as Union Pacific wasnt like your Eastern Rail Roads and I think that is why Union Pacific is such a Large Rail Road anyway they are a little more conservitive then most are.Don Pottorff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-14-02, 04:03 PM (EST) 17. "RE: question to captiandon guy" LAST EDITED ON Mar-14-02 AT 04:09 PM (EST)as I said earlier, my IC doesnt work. The only way for me to run one of them like that is to run them downhill (St. Anton to Innsbruck) or learn to be a good driver. The latter option is probably best. Although I am a pretty good driver (ESE at 80 mph uphill), I find myself stubborn and I dont change my methods well. Like you I also love steamers and the UP, mainly because of the many PFE's they ran. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
