Mar-10-02, 05:46 PM (EST) "I need help with wheel rotation in TSM v1.1" I am having trouble getting wheel rotation on a steam loco project I am working on. Its a Pacific (4-6-2) wheel arrangement I have been using the std names for the bogie/pony truck.
i.e. Bogie1. has wheel11 & wheel12 and the rear pony is bogie2 with wheel21. All is well with these, wheels rotate and bogies swival. But I have been trying to get the driving wheels to rotate as well. As soon a I try to apply rotation whatever method I use the output crashes TrainSim. When I remove it, its OK again. I even tried putting in a small block under the driving wheels and linked the wheels to it as Bogie3 with wheels31 thru 33.The TSM supplied Wheel.Rot does note work either it rotates the wheels sideways by 45 deg!I tried a simple object to try it out as well rather than my loco model and got the same result.Help, my sanity is threatened! My other projects were OK but they have been just wagons with a couple of bogies. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-10-02, 06:58 PM (EST) 1. "RE: I need help with wheel rotation in TSM v1.1" The proper names for driver wheels are: Wheels1, Wheels2, Wheels3, Wheels4These wheels do not require a bogie...For more info refer the the document named 'Creation of a Complex Shape.doc' which is include in the techdocs zip file on the Train Sim CD...Good luck...David A. Mar-11-02, 01:01 PM (EST) 2. "RE: I need help with wheel rotation in TSM v1.1" I had a similar problem. All my drive wheels worked, but the wheels on my front bogie wouldn't work. My workaround--I told TSM that my bogie wheels were rod06 and then I developed my own animation. I used 8 frames (9 with 0) and opened the small animation window. I rotated the wheel 45 degrees and clicked on set rotation. I kept rotating and clicking set rotation for each frame and then saved the file as mywheel.rot. I cloned the rear wheels on the bogie by copying and pasting the front wheels after finishing the animation. As long as you don't click on set motion, the wheels will rotate about their own axis no matter where placed. Is this the right way to do this--probably not--but it works and results were what I was after !!! Now if I could just get my transparency cleared up, I'll be ready to publish.Dave Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
