Mar-10-02, 12:48 PM (EST) ""Scanning the Horizon"" LAST EDITED ON Mar-10-02 AT 12:58 PM (EST)Something of interest in the April issue of Popular Mechanics listed in their "Great Stuff" section, I quote: "Now anyone can create computerized 3D models. With Olympus's ScanTop scanner, you just place the object to be scanned on the turntable, touch a button and the scanner takes photos of the object from various angles. The included 3D ScanWare software then creates a realistic 3D model of the object. The scanner can import into most 3D modeling software programs, and it includes features such a multiple scans, texture editing and integration of Web features such as hyperlinks. For more information, visit www.olympus.com/3d."; Price is $4999.95. There is a picture of the unit in the PM magazine. Imagine, put an HO scale cab forward on the turntable and import the file to 3DCanvas and have a great start. Course, 5 Grand is a bit to spend on a hobby......Thought some of you might be interested.Brad
