As many close ups as possible, are always a big help to get the detail right.Straight on views can help a lot when the engineering drawings are not available, Side, Front, overhead from overbridges are all good. Cab interior shots come in handy if you need to get the cab right. But really after that as many examples of the particular locomotive class as possible. Because they all have small differences.Any particular reason for the question??? or is it just a general curiosity??Best Regards,

Mar-05-02, 05:10 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Taking photos for modeling" I live in Kirkwood, a municipality of St. Louis County in Missouri. I live 5 miles away from the St. Louis Transport Museum which in the last couple years has been working very hard to restore several engines. My son is 3 years old so I'd like to get out more with him and he loves trains. St. Louis has a ton of train infrastructure, alot of it old and very distinctive from others. I don't know that I'll ever model but I'd sure like to take some photos and if I ever get into modelling or if someone would want photos I just wanted to get a basic idea of what exactly modellers looked for. What blows me away is the difference in height and size of different engines. The transport museum has one that must be almost 30 ft high if my memory serves me correctly. I put there webpage up on the MSTS board and it shows the different configurations they have in their collection as well as photos of many. There's a tour thru some of the cars including the private car that is used in the movie Truman with Gary Sinise. Plus I know someone at the museum that I work the St. Patrick's Day Parade with here in St. Louis Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
