That's an impossible question to answer. There are some superb models out there, there are some average models out there, and there are a few that are not so good...... BUT It depends on exactly what type of train you are personally interested in and from what country! There isn't anybody who could legitimately answer that question for you. Everybody has personal favorites, and everybody's choice would be different.Look through the file library till you find something you like and then try it out! If you then don't like it don't use it.Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Feb-24-02, 10:20 PM (EST) 2. "RE: What is the BEST MSTS locomotive around?" I agree with Fozzy, it all depends upon your personal tastes. Although I will add that Train Artisan makes some of the best MSTS add-ons regardless of modeling preferences. The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. If you are into US Equipment you can't beat it. Also very good is Chris Longhursts European Electrics, they're at www.christrains.com. If You're into activities right here at trainsim rocks. Good Aussie Stuff is at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/index.html. The Steamers in Particular Kick Butt. If You Like Swedish stuff then http://msts.e-buzz.net/ is a must visit as well. I love their X2000.
Let us know how it goes.Adam Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-25-02, 03:20 PM (EST) 6. "RE: What is the BEST MSTS locomotive around?" My faves are Kim Durose's brilliant British steam engines. Until now he created the classes 7 ("Britannia"), 9F (the famous "Evening Star" and others"), 6 (Clan class) and the only class 8 express machine ever built, the Duke of Gloucester. Oh, he also made the SR Bulleid Q1 class. Well, what can I say, his creations are the best European steamers I have seen so far, so if you're into European railways (like me ) you should grab them right now! They can be found at http://www.kimsim.co.uk/pages/kimsim.htmEnjoy!D.M.

>------------------------------------------------------------Well, as your handle suggests you like New York trains; I'd go with the ESE and the bonus F7 pack that comes with it, from TrainArtisan..
Hauling cars is fun; but crashing them is even better.-Darkfyre Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-26-02, 02:17 AM (EST) 10. "RE: What is the BEST MSTS locomotive around?" As far as American steam goes, my vote is Conn's 2-8-2 version 1.1. It has the most accurate siderod animation out of all the steamers I've downloaded. Which isn't to say I'm downloading everything, there may be better stuff out there, I just haven't procured it yet. I have a feeling Xacto's H8/H9 2-8-0 may be a contender to knocking the 2-8-2 off the top of my list. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-26-02, 02:23 AM (EST) 11. "RE: What is the BEST MSTS locomotive around?" Not a loco, but a very good train: Zurich's SBAHN RE 450.
Newyorkflyer, have you seen Yannick Lavigne's new previews of his Falcon 50 for fs2002 in the avsim's screenshots forum ? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-27-02, 00:11 AM (EST) 13. "RE: What is the BEST MSTS locomotive around?" Its close for me on which is the best I am not much a fan for the Diesel engines... I go more for the Steam as I love those steam engines from the older days, Besides Steam engines had more power but they were not as effieciant hence diesel engines are here to stay.
My personal favorite is the Cotton Belt 819 4-8-4 because its pulling power.
For Smaller loads I like the TA Mountian Loco's and they are fun to Double head with.
For Cars I prefer the ESE set since it has the best over all look and love that passenger view. All above will be untill someone brings out a Bigboy in UP colors.
Favorite cab view is the TA Cab in wich I put in most of my Steam engines
Favorite Diesel is TA's F7 that came with the ESE set as I use its B unit as extra power with a 4-8-2 Mountian to pull a 22 ese carset with it Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
