Feb-24-02, 08:52 AM (EST) "WHO WNATS THERE LOCOS TESTED." I was wondering how ou there in the train simulator world would like to have there new creations tested. Here is the deal. I don't know any anthing about forren stuff. I am ONLY GOING TO TEST LOCOS FROM THE USA, CANANDA, AND MEXICO. Thats all the engines that I know a lot about. I will test STEAM, DIESEL, AND ELECTRIC ENGINES. Here is may E-Mail stparsons@lexcominc.net Make sure you put a post at the botten of the page before you send anything to me. Then after you make a post at the bottem I will ok what engines will be tested. TELL ME WHAT KIND OF ENGINE YOU ARE MAKING IN YOUR POST. But if I was making models, and wanted them testing, I'd quietly ask a few people that are highly knowledgable and respected with regards to both 3D modelling/texturing, real-life trains, and MSTS, if they wouldn't mind taking a look at it for me.Handing it over to some unknown kid that mouths off all the time? Wanting to get exclusive previews of important models for MSTS? Expecting to get your hands on some of the highest quality stuff soon to be available from the likes of Train Artisan & NALW?Keep dreaming, Adam...

Just to be the first? or being part of a better or the best product?Being a beta-tester for MS TrainStop and a few others i can say that only the latter works. If he wants to have free stuff or being the first who has a new locomotive then he will never be a real tester. Nobody would want him after his first 'job'.

Thats the main reason, I'm sick of coming in here and trying to read newbie stuff and having to see his 20 posts per thread wanting to test the damn locomotives. Its very annoying having to read all of that.And as for the teenagers, most of them are quite good. Jens-Chris's work is amazing stuff for someone of his age. Its just the bad and annoying ones like Adam who ruin it for teenagers and everybody.

If they needed their trains tested, there would be posts made about asking other people to test them. I think he has learned his lesson and it is time to drop it guys. I mean it's great that he has such an enthusiasm for Train-Simulator. Though I do agree with you guys that he does need to stop posting all the time asking to test the new engines. For now though give it a rest, I think we are all guilty of wishing we could beta test some of the new engines such as the Big Boy that Jens-Chris is working on. Lets not alienate poor Adam from the train-sim community because he is a little over anxious about wanting to get new locomotives to use. We should be glad that this program is as popular as it is and that we have kids like him who enjoy the hobby as much as us older kids do Granted Adam does need some more patience though in waiting for new locos.Adam, I am not a locomotive designer but I am a route builder. With my NEC extension project I went to one of the guys at the North American Locomotive Works and had him test my route before releasing it here on the Train-Sim.com website. I did this because they are known for the quality of their work. I am sure that with the amount of research that goes into designing a locomotive, the designers are very knowledgeable about the engines they are building and can beta test it themselves to create a very accurate model. They would also most likely ask the known locomotive design groups such as Train-Artisan or the North American Locomotive Works, who are known for the accuracy in the trains that they produce, to beta test their new locomotives in order to ensure they are of the highest quality possible before releasing them to the public for download. They also most likely have access to better data on how the locomotives should be operating than you can obtain. Being older and more experienced they simply have better acess to data on how the engines used to run and can create more accurate engine files for the locomotives and can do a better job beta testing them since they have that data. There are many very knowledgeable people involved in this community when it comes to locomotives. Keep your enthusiasm for running Train Simulator and have some patience waiting for the new engines to arrive. I am sure we would all love to be able to beta test Jens-Chris' new Big Boy engine, myself included, but we just have to wait for it to be released for download.
