I don't count rivets, so I can't (and wouldn't anyway) pick apart the tiny details, but I think for locos transparent windows add a lot. I think one of the reasons is that "painted" windows is one of the things makes that other train game seem so toyish-looking troub

Feb-06-02, 04:05 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Updated C40-8(W)s and a new C44-9W..." Good work, Jens-Chris! I didn't realize that you were so close to completing a C44-9W, too! All three units look pretty sharp!A couple of things, though. I went out to the tracks after work (didn't have time to stop by the house for a camera), and all of the UP Dash-8s and Dash-9s widecabs that I saw had the grey anti-glare panel on top of the nose. Some of the Dash-8s only had the center triangle in grey while the sections that sloped down on either side remained in yellow. It looks as if painting the entire top of the nose grey may have started with the C44-9Ws and went back to the Dash-8s as they were repainted. Hopefully someone with better knowledge can let us know for sure. And there's one signifiacnt difference between Dash-8 and Dash-9 locomotives, the radiator section of the Dash-9s is noticably thicker than the section on the Dash-8s. I believe it's because the Dash-9s have a thicker (bigger) radiator core to handle the extra output. You can see the difference between #9575 and #9259 in the picture below.
Other than those two minor points, I think you're ready to go.Thanks,Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Updated C40-8(W)s and a new C44-9W..." excellent models!! the standard cab version looks a lot better now! my only suggestion would be to make the M.U. hoses a bit smaller... right now they are double the size of the handrails! other than that, things look nearly perfect! keep up the great work!DW Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Fantastic!!!...Sweet!!!...Awesome!!!...!!!I would have to agree though, the hoses are a little too thick, and their is usaully 3 of them.Sorry for being picky, but I feel it would add to the "Realism"of the loco.I like the 3-dimensional bogies. One more thing is the texturing of the walk ways, they should be Diamond plate.I can send you a bmp with the Diamond plate on it,and you could "copy" and "paste" it on to the tga,or bmp wherever you have the walkways mapped.Or "borrow it from John Peterson's C30-7(tread.bmp)All in all, they look "Great"! Just a question. Will you do a CSX livery ? I don't know how your texturing is made but unfortunately no add-on of Dash9 in CSX livery have the rear in full yellow. Maybe you will change this.Keep on this excellent work and why not making an AC6000 or a SD90MAC?phil Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
